Mini-USB hardwired to car.
My GPS is charged/powered via a mini-USB connector. I'd like to hardwire one to the car. I plan to use the cigarette lighter wiring. Can I just use any old PC mini-USB cable, or does it have to be one of those car charger ones with the mini-USB connector on it that I'll hack up?

You need a cigarette lighter one because usb is 5 volts and your car runs on 12. I had the same problem a while ago so I found an old phone charger for a motorola slvr which charges by mini usb then took that apart and lengthened the wires, ran them under the lining up to the roof where my gps was.
