Made a LOT of progress on the wagon over the past few weeks. The bodywork is all back on, although in multiple colors. The dash is in and I got it registered. This weekend I got it aligned and had the ecu flashed to get rid of CELs and put a conservative fuel map on it so I can drive it for a few weeks and work out any kinks. I'll post some pics soon.

Here's the next issue I need to deal with: I need a front mount intercooler. I don't know what kit to buy though. It's gonna have to be an eBay kit or a used name brand one because I can't affort to pay $1000 for anything. I want to preserve the bumper beam, maybe not the whole thing, but definitely something to keep some structural integrity in the front in case of an accident. Does anyone know of a kit that will work for me?

Thanks. Very helpful. I'll mount it on the roof rack.

Yo muchacho, you've got to be able to find a used Perrin or Turbo XS on IWSti. I always see them up there.

Had some bad luck. After getting the car back together and doing a shake-down run, it overheated. I thought it might be air in the cooling system so I bled it out and took another run. It overheated again. I did a compression test and found out that my head gasket was bad on the passenger side. So, I pulled the motor, broke it down and sent the heads to be pressure checked and milled. I put it back together with new gaskets all around and just dropped it back in the car last night. I still need to hook up a few odds and ends to get it running. I'm hoping to have it done this weekend. Then I can really start driving it! Fingers crossed......

Got the head gaskets done last week and she fired up and purred nicely. No more overheating problems! I've been driving the car FINALLY! I got the alignment done at Sears and had to bring it back for another adjustment. It still felt a bit jumpy so my buddy came by with his camber gauge and toe plates and we made some more adjustments last night. Now I'm happy with it. For now. I got the front toe to 1mm of toe out and .6 degrees of negative camber. The problem is now in the rear. I'm running 2.2 degrees of negative camber on one side and 1.9 degrees on the other. I'm going to pick up some rear camber adjustment bolts and see if I can dial this in to about .8 degrees.

My next jobs are:
roll fenders
get a front driver side fender liner
make a wiring harness for my turbo timer (came out of a wrx)
Get some floor mats
FMIC
Tune!!!
Install front sway bar
bodywork & paint

Why do you want such little negative camber? Admittedly, -2.2/-1.9 is probably a bit much in the rear, but dropping it all the way to -0.8 is unnecessary. And only having -0.6 up front is terrible - you want that to be up around -1.5 if you can get there.

FYI I think the driver side an passenger side is typically slightly different to make up for the driver's weight while in the vehicle. I think my WRX was 1.9 left and 2.0 or 2.1 on the right.

Try going to Little Bear Wheel Alignment in Peekskill/Buchanan. They do performance alignments and all that jazz with the laser machines. They know they're stuff.

I've had them do alignments on my SC400 and SC300. they are really good. I think I'll go to them once I get all my other issues sorted out. I'll tell them how I plan to use the car and let them work their magic. I totally trust those guys.

OEM specs for the car are to have -0.5 at most in the front. This is a daily driver and I don't want to be burning up tires.

Hence my recommendation to go to -1.5 up front. I would say -1 to -1.2 in the rear would be good. You will not burn up the tires with -1.5 camber. You should be more concerned that toe is set correctly, as close to 0 as possible, front and rear, to promote tire longevity. (Note that I have a BD/BG Legacy, too, and I have the FSM, so I know what the factory specs are and know what works.)

Excellent work on the swap, particularly the persistence to get it done despite significant down time. I know from personal experience how hard it can be to get back into a major job after time off!

I'm going to take the car to Little Bear Alignment in Buchanan, NY this week for a real alignment. Those guys are wizards. I'm gonna tell them the type of driving I do and what I want out of the car and I'm sure they'll dial it in just right.

Got some more work done today. I rolled my fenders so now my STI wheels and Potenzas clear front and rear. I drove the car from my house in Danbury to GPNY in Mt. Kisco, NY for some karting. Man, what a nice drive it was down the Saw Mill! Even only running 9 lbs of boost this car is fast. The 4.11 gearing means that 70mph on the highway is 3500 rpm but hey, it sure gets there fast. I also put my Perrin front sway bar in today too. I'm using stock end links which must have a gazillion miles on them so I'm sure they're not doing the best job. I have a set of Perrin end links but lost a few of the hardware bits to bolt them in. I need to find that stuff so get them installed. I also need to find a good rear sway bar. I'm running the stock GT one and it's about the diameter of dental floss.

Next steps are to get an emissions test, performance alignment, mount my winter tires, get a front fender liner and find a good intercooler.

I'm just really psyched that the car is finally daily drivable!!!!

Perrin Endlinks are garbage. Might as well use Erector Set parts.

I got my wheel bearing job done this weekend. It wasn't bad at all. I used my shop press to do most of the work. If I had a bearing separator, I could have done it all but I had to take it to EVB (Extreme Vehicle Builders) which is 1 mile from my house to have them push the inner bearing race off the spindle.

Then I installed some Deatsch Werks 650cc injectors. It's all coming together finally!!
