So I finally got around to buffing out my headlights and the results from just wet sanding and polishing were amazing. The right one wasnt buffed yet in this picture but in person it's a night and day difference

Markuz93, I love your custom emblem. I always appreciate pride our base model. Way to make it your own!

You didn't mention your lights. Paint or overlays?

2010 Outback Sport wheels fitment.
So I'm looking at these esr sr08 wheels that are 18x8.5 30et and thinking in regards of tires 235/40.

So personally I like a little poke but I honestly have no clue how these would look and I know 30et is quite a bit.

On stock suspension, will it rub or need to roll fenders?

I'm coming from civics so I really don't know a whole lot about these cars.

All help is appreciated.

Personally, I plan on getting one and putting it on a 09-10 WRX grill with red striping. Should turn out nice.

Now to try to find decals.

Beautiful I keep going back and forth between some rpf1 and these sparco rims. What are the specs? Are those the 17" or 16" rims?what tires and size on those?

Thanks chillwill!!

Here's the 411...

WHEELS:
Sparco Terra
17 x 7.5
21 lbs.
Offset +48
5 x 100 bolt pattern

TIRES:
Continental Extreme Contact DWS
205 / 50 ZR 17

The tires have a few months left in 'em... I have ~35k on 'em so far. I'm HUGE into snowboarding and I drive to the mountains a LOT in the winter months, so I like to have solid tires. The car has ~76,000 miles now, so I'll likely replace the suspension sooner than later. Not sure what the plan is yet (King Springs?), but when I do upgrade I'll look to replace the tires as well.

I want a little more "meat" on the tire, so I may change the size a bit... to a 205 / 55 ZR17. (maybe!) I know that I may need to roll the fenders a little if I size-up too much.

I LOVE the Contis, but I understand they're no longer in production so I may go with Nokian WRG2's.

Thanks!!

Love some of the unique N/A cars on here. Here's mine...

List of sheet I've done:
- 20% tint all around (greatest cosmetic mod out there imo)
- KB short shifter (have the bushings, just haven't put them in)
- Anarchy Motive weighted knob
- WRX rear sway
- WRX OEM wheels 17x8 +53 (235/45 tires)
- Grounding kit
- Footwell illumination kit
- Tailpipe cover
- Inno fairing

Cheers, Dirk

Get 2nd set of wheels w/ snow tires. Even the cheapest snow tires will outperform the most expensive all-season tires in snow.

225/45R17 is the better size (for keeping the orig. tire size diameter).

Not sure where you get this info but Continental still makes ExtremeContact DWS06 which is basically the revised version. Nokian WRG2 is already replaced by WRG3.

My advise is to get cheap 16" or even 15" winter wheels & snow tires, and get 225/45R17 summer performance tires for next spring... You'll have MORE fun driving throughout the year.

I've been running 235/45 A/S tires for two winters now and consistently drive over mountain passes with 6"+ of snow and have never gotten stuck or even close to it. I think the train of thought that "a skinnier tire sinks into the snow and gets traction" is a total farce that tire companies put out there so that you buy two sets of tires. If you understand the limitations of any tire's snow/ice traction then you can get by with a good A/S tire. Show me the physics of why a skinnier tire is better and I may believe you. Any "sink" you get from a skinnier tire is compensated by the extra surface area in contact with the ground that you get from a wider tire.

Now, if you're sticking metal studs into a tire then you are actually doing something for your stopping power but if you're talking stud-less snow tires then I just don't think it's worth dropping 100s of $ for two sets. One nice thing about winter/summer set ups is that it makes both sets last a lot longer.

Cheers

Thanks for the info Frendyman!

I've considered this option, but I'd rather stick with a single set of wheels for now. Winters in the NE are "iffy" and, while I do believe snow-specific tires/wheels will out-perform any A/S out there, the reality is that 95+% of the driving I'll do will be on paved roads. The snow-specific tires would help in only the most extreme circumstances (around here).

Thank you!! I'll take a closer look at sizing options when the time comes to buy new tires. I'm sorta looking for a little taller sidewall (potholes in NJ/NYC are the worst!), so if I upgrade the suspension and get a small lift out of that, I can likely go with a taller (larger diameter) tire.

Another thank you!! I really do LOVE the Contis.. but just to give another tire a shot, I may go with the WRG3's. (I was reading about them yesterday, after I posted with the WRG2 info )

I appreciate the feedback guys... this is an AWESOME thread!! Let's keep it going!

Looking for some suggestions....

1. I have a small scuff on the dash trim-piece that runs from the ignition key, through the a/c controls, and over the glovebox. I can sand and paint it, but I don't think it'll ever match the other trim pieces correctly. Any thoughts on where I can find a replacement?

2. I already upgraded my head unit, but the speakers are only "OK". Any suggestions on replacement speakers for the stock ones? I have the tweeters near the A-pillars... no sub-box. Not looking to go nuts with audio.. just looking to upgrade the stock speakers.

3. Bumper protection!! I'll be having my bumpers cleaned up (standard-issue damage from parking in the street )... and I'm hoping to keep them clean for as long as possible. Suggestions on any strip-protectors? Or maybe some other solutions?

You've been lucky w/ A/S tires. A/S tires are compromised tires... Not great in summer nor winter... Just OK. I used to run A/S tires before... until I tried summer tires I didn't realize how much fun I've been missing. :/

Have you seen rally cars w/ fat snow tires? There's a reason for that... There are studded, studless, & winter performance tires... Pick one that suits your condition/need... I'd rather be safe than sorry... A few hundred $ is way cheaper than my car or life. :/

1. Try wrapping vinyl.

2. All Subaru H/U are weak. :/ Upgrading speakers won't help. In fact, aftermarket H/U w/ stock speakers sounds better than Subaru OEM H/U w/ aftermarket speakers.

3. Not much you can do other than avoiding to park next other cars... I usually park at the furthest spot from the crowd. :/

Completely agree that nothing beats a good pair of summer sport tires for good-weather driving, Fendy. Our N/A's need all the help they can get! I was merely stating that for the average daily driver, A/S tires get the job done... Even in bad weather. Rally racing is a different story, of course.

Knowing the road conditions and being aware will save your car and life more than any tires will.

Cheers

Ps I'm a hypocrite because I have summer tires in the garage that I put on when I'm not too lazy

Appropriate tires are critical.

That's why I have this in my garage...
