Quality mods installation workshop in S.Calif?
I'm planning to mod the UpPipe and DownPipe for '04 WRX. Are there any high-quality (friendly mechanic is a plus ) workshop in S.Calif? Preferrably around LA/Orange County. I would also like to hear bad comments on local workshops that you folks experienced, thank you.
I aim for highest quality installation work for my upcoming UP/DP installation coz I want no troubles after installation (as all people believe)

I've heard nothing except good things about Suby Specialties [in Monrovia]. Chaste Auto are good guys too [they're in Pomona].

I've had work done recently at both Chaste and Harman Motive... I'd recommend both, or either.
Good guys, good work. Sergi |

Very high quality work can be found at Brainstorm which will be done by Ed. This is the same Ed who was formerly at ISR. Yes, Ed the Subaru Master Tech. If anyone knows Subaru's it's him.

At this time, we have not yet had the pleasure to do business with Harman or Aerosim, but look forward to establishing a relationship with them in the future. Kevin King of Imports, LLC www.kingofimports.com [email protected] Last edited by King Of Imports; 08-31-2004 at 06:30 PM. |

I'm gonna third this...
There are a lot of great shops around here. However, if you're anal-retentive and want everything (even the stuff you don't see that much -- like how the turbo heat shield) done "right" then I'd say Steve @ Aerosim is probably you're best bet. Here are some things (good and not-so-good you should know) 1. Steve's been working on cars for a longtime and is more...ahem...mature than many other installers. 2. His resume includes All American Racing (Dan Gurney's shop) and Swift Engineering 3. He's towards the expensive end of the install scale -- not unreasonable, but good work doesn't come cheap. Call him for an actual quote. 4. He doesn't work particularly quickly. 5. If you're nice and you stay out of the way you can hang around the lift and watch him do the work. 6. They will have wireless internet soon. -Stephen Quote:

Among all these installers, do any of the customers (those who are reading this thread) have had problems or disappointment with the job(s) done? May I also know what kind of job (i.e. turbo upgrade/tranny/exhaust/suspension/electronics, etc) you all done at these installers?
Back to the business, I plan to install a cat-less UP & DP combo. Do these installers carry necessary gaskets/bolts/nuts in case if the UP/DP package doesn't come with the accessories, or I need to purchase all those things prior to bringing the stuffs to the installer? Will they correct the possible CEL problems as well? |

You usually need to bring everything you need (unless you're purchasing the items through the shop where they'll usually have everything already), though if the shop is near a dealer (i.e. Aerosim) you can just run over and pick up the gaskets and such. You should call ahead to make sure what all you'll need to bring.
My experience was with Chaste Auto, they installed some steering rack bushings and a rear differential protector (nothing particularly exciting, i know...) but they were working on installing twin-scroll turbo setups on two cars that same day in addition to the 2 other rally cars undergoing full rally prep... |
