Default Race a cop (legal)

My Brother-In-Law is a state cop in Colorado and I am going to visit the last week of this month. I originally was going to drive, but it was much cheaper to fly... well, now I want to drive because the state police is doing a race-a-cop thing on the night of the 27th in Grand Junction. I do not know any more information than that, but I thought that some of you Colorado Subaru guys may want to check in on this. Personally I would love to go head-to-head with my brother-in-law in a charger with my stage 2 STi, but will not be able to. I figured the next best thing would be to see someone else do it.

It doesn't take much to beat a police Charger.. I'm not sure about CO but I do know that here in Texas (according to the dodge dealership) that the Hemi Chargers will out run a charger with the police package. They are only the R/T that is chipped. I think the top speed is like 140 something.

Yes I am aware of this.

It was a general statement about it being a roost, like if you wanted to rob a bank at a certain time of day have a dunkin donuts across town offer free donuts to cops day.

the r/t is the hemi charger. ? And most police chargers are the 5.7 hemi r/t package with extras so this post confuses me

dont be confused little one... th police pakage weighs the car down like crazy the marked chargers have all the weight of the light bar ontop teh radio and computer equpment befier suspension usually the have skipplates. oh and the 150+ lbs of gear the officers contribute not only with thte belts and body armor but all officers have many field kits and a duffle bag full of gear in the trunk. all this added weight allows the ct unmarked charger to run 13.8 in the quarter mile lol the main purpos of it is top speed not many cars that speed are gunna go faster than 140 and the ones that can usually know better.. i mean come on how many 140+ police chases have you heard about?

CN: they are slower because they are heavier than stock!!

sorry about the confusion, you are right, they are both Hemi engines. What I meant was.. The interceptors use the 5.7L engine and even most use the v6 3.5L not the 6.1L. The SRT/8 will flat out run the interceptors off the show room floor.

haha that is a little extreme i think. I have about 50 lbs of stuff in my trunk and my computer and car radio arent very heavy. The light bar? maybe 50 more tops. Haha so yes 100 lbs is heavier than a car that is 100 lbs lighter. But that is like fractions of a second difference in any sort of speed trial.

And you don't hear about police chases over 140 mph because they call them off when speeds get too high. Safety is first and most people's offenses are not worth chasing a guy at that speeds for, especially if you have a description of him and his vehicle for later

A company donated this car to pleasant grove to test out. Its supposed to have cameras on board that scans license plates of cars that pass and lets the officer know of any cars not registered. They have been getting MANY people with this car And they have let other cities borrow it for a day so stay far clear if you're ridin dirty

so what you're really saying is.. remove license plate, vinyl wrap car.. find out what the car will do in top gear wide open.. get home, remove vinyl wrap?

The races were fun. I was actually surprised that the charger only ran high 15's and I don't think it ever broke 90. Reaction times were anywhere from .01 to .025, I was impressed with that since he had never been to the drag strip. He personally drives the Crown Vic and he says from the feel, the charger has quicker pickup, but mid range the CV is much quicker as well as top end.

It was going crazy over here in PG pullin people over on my street a couple weeks ago. I think he was having too much fun in that car. He did a 180 a couple times turning around to get people.
