You fail at comparisons... Think about how much juice is needed for a 60" plasma... Things are gonna get bigger, not smaller, sure there are alternatives but that wasn't the point of his post as I saw it.

Well, what he said was that it just takes juice to run a bigger screen, but it can depend on the type of tv, that was the point I was trying to illustrate. Hell, a LCD will use less power as the same size plasma.

True but at least we have choices now... it would suck to have to pick a tech you didn't want to because of some power regulation... However, there are worse things.

Nice speakers. I've always had a sweet spot for dual driver setups. Just an fyi they've got fiberglass covered paper cones, not full glass. They are really sensitive though, nice and efficient. Oh and you can mod them by changing the fiberglass fill with some better polyfil. The internal wiring ain't great but works.

I'm guessing this is the right thread. I have an extra computer which is going to be turned into my media pc. Its running Windows 7 right now, might be changing that back to Vista or XP not sure yet. Going to be buying a LCD for it soon and a HTIB as well. Don't need anything outrageous in the HTIB department, just need something I can connect a Wii and either a PS3 or XBOX to it and the computer. Suggestions?

Gentlemen, you may have already discussed this so I apologize if you have...

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_022YSP4...k.html?tp=6561

Sound Bar Speakers...do they actually work or are they smoke and mirrors? I have been wondering about these and they do look like a neat idea and if anything very easy to setup versus a traidtional 5.1 setup. I currently have a 5.1 but nevertheless am curious about the new stuff in the market.

you can't make 5.1 from 1 speaker... just not going to happen...

it may sound better than 1 normal speaker, but it won't emulate true surround...

The Onkyo HTIB packages are some of the best I've seen, standard connections, rebranded receivers, decent speakers, decent power output and pretty robust components..

You're paying for the receiver at the $500 price tag and they basically toss some speakers at you for deeeep discount.. are they great? no, do they get the job done? certainly, can you upgrade the speakers in the future? Yep.

Yes but most of the HTIB solutions do not offer HDMI audio only video pass through. Which is kinda pointless without the audio.

oh good to know.

I am glad everyone recommended the 606 as I do like it a lot. Seems to run warm even when off though.

No such thing as an "HD" antenna. At this point any antenna can pull in HD signal depending on the stations in your area. But your best bet to get the best quality signal from the farthest locations is most likely something like this...

http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...odsInSession=1

It's cheap and you can pick it up today if you want and return it easily if need be. I have this setup on a camera tripod in my spare bedroom pointed out a window with the blinds down. I get every local station putting out a signal in the general direction it is pointing. I pick up some obscure ones but they are about 100 miles away. I may put it in the attic one day or on the roof but it works perfect as is.

Yah that was my thought at first but it is going to take some serious effort to get the cable routed to my garage. When I did have an indoor antenna it was hit and miss. Every day on my way home from work I stopped at the store(BB, Walmart, Radioshack, Meijer) and got an indoor Antenna to try and return the next day. Went through 8 antennas before I found the best for my house and area. It is hit and miss with the little ones but the one I did have the best luck with was the Philips PHDTV1. About $20-$25 shipped. Good Luck
