EVO 7 vs. WRX is the looks department
We all know the WRX and the Lancer EVO goes head to head overseas, and it's a good thing the EVO 7 isn't comming over here. Because I was surfing around the the web and found a picture of it, and if this came to the US, the WRX purchases would DROP.
Just look for your self.... -Mike-

I think one major problem with the new WRX is the spoiler. Sure the lights are funny, but if u look at the rally version's spoiler and imagine it on a stock WRX......much better!

I think the Lancer EVO is pretty damned ugly myself. Besides, it doesn't compete directly with the WRX in the rest of the world.... where both are available as real production cars (not grey imports) the Lancer is more expensive. It's more expensive than a WRX STi, hardly surprising considering the active yaw control diffs and whatnot. It's also heavier, again not surprising given the cast iron 4G63 under the hood.

The Lancer EVO in top form competes more with the 22B or P1 than anything else I believe. THe listed HP is 276, but it's probably up well over 300 (maybe 330 or so ) because of Japanese regulations. That's what puts you in Mid 4s to 60 and 12s in the 1/4. Plus, with current conversion from the Pound, it'll run you a little over $45k. Of course - Stuff's more expensive in the UK - but I'm just sayin.

With the current xchange rate, the Evo7 GSR sells for $28k USD or so.
The Evo7 is way cheaper than the Evo6 and the new STI. And please, stop using the UK rates. |

hmmmmm I like the new EVO about as much as the new WRX, just doesn't do it for me either way. I love the classic Impreza and EVO looks, just the way it is. But as Ron David, narrator for "Wings" once said, "No design seems strange for long.....if it's successfull......"

RA you're a good man. I tried to tell them before that the new Evo7 is way more affordable then its ever been. The dealer near me got four of the new Evo7's in and was selling them all for $28K out the door. Its not even been a week and they sold all four. It took months for the Subaru dealer to get rid of the two new WRX's that they got it. Sorry guys but for $28K out the door there is no way in hell the WRX let alone the STI model could come close. That's why I'm looking at buying a new Evo7 (in white) if I sign a contract to stay here longer or transfer to the UK. Oh and make my Evo a RS model. I want it fast and light. I don't need A/C or the other luxury stuff.
