I think he should make it right with Louie, even if its shop credit, for parts. He should not represent himself as an "experienced tuner" in the subaru market if he is not. I could tell in just a few minutes that I was there, he was confused by his eyes and mannerisms. (Yes I was trained by Uncle Sam) I feel really bad for Louie, that was a lot of money for him to save up and get taken advantage of.

Who was it?

Who did the new tune Louis?

There are a lot more button pushers out there than tuners.

Was the new tune on speed density?

No not speed density

John from Forced Engineering tuned the car he seems really good at tuning DSMs and plenty of guys from Kzoo love him but I guess it didnt work out the same for me.

Tuners I'd trust over the internet more than any DSM tuner in person... and yes some do DSMs but like it was mentioned above... Subaru's aren't like tuning an inline 4 for many reasons.

Tim Bailey - does mostly etunes
Junior Barrios - eTune up to 20g
Clark Turner - does mostly online tunes
Dominic Acia - won't do eTunes
Mike @ Innovative - won't do etunesthat I know of
STi Mikey / PhatRon - eTune machines

I hate to say it Louis cause I like helping you but saving a few bucks up front isn't saving much.

I got my id2000s idling myself steady 12.5afr on pump gas in 5 min. Does that make me a tuner? I can get your WOT maps dialed in from looking at the timing maps from people who have posted their tining maps along the way and dial it back a degree and you'd be safe.. does it make me a tuner?? Nope.

I could charge you $50 to help you over the internet and if it doesn't make the power it should.. oh well I got my money.

I hope I don't sound like a dink cause I am trying to help, but when it comes to the life and blood of your motor, don't skimp out on the most crucial part. Save $100 off your next paycheck and go to a reputable tuner, ****, I think junior only charges $250 for an eTune with unlimited revisions on same fuel!!

Aron and I both used Ron from PhatBotti with less than satisfactory results. If you want to use PhatBotti, go to Mikey. Williaty (or something like that) is who does some N/A tunes and throttle curve smoothing.

I think the earliest tunable N/A cars were 05, but don't hold my feet to the fire on that.

Louis: That's how I feel. He should be doing cheap tunes to make a name for himself in the Subaru game. I also feel bad because 500 bucks for a tune is steep, regardless of who it's from, or whom is paying for it.

I also feel guilty because I suggested them so much for so long. =/

John definitely needs to make it right, and he really should be selfless in this situation and whatever Louie asks for give it to him (within reason of course).

You know the ****ty thing Levon? John is charging 450 for his tunes... that's just a stupid ridiculous price, especially with no name or reputation backing him up.

Yeah i didnt skimp on any tune this time i paid $500 for 5 hours by the time i got out the door for just the tune put down 327-28X on e-85 granted a super hot day i was happy as long as when it cooled down a week from then and i did a couple highway pulls it felt as good as it did before. As much as you hate what im about to do im going back to Eric and paying my $150 he may not make the most power but ill take it, he e-tunes all day and you find some of his stuff on proven power bragging especially newer 08+ style stg 2ish stuff but seems to make good power on those setups. I was happy on his tune before and at the end of the day thats all that matters.

Pretty much every major tuner will have its bad and good stories im pretty sure. Look at me everyone around here with DSMs love the guy, he starts tuning subarus and leaves me .

Well said and agree totally.

I feel like there are probably a few ~2% or less mistakes made while tuning (good tuners). 20% of the bad reviews are from people pushing the tuners. 80% of the problem ESPECIALLY with eTune is mechanical failure. Usually on the owners part. Often times as simple as an unplugged vac line or EBCS ran backwards. Then there are cases where you drive to Chicago and have injectors fail on the dyno and you have to drive 5 hrs home and buy new ones.

Edit ** all numbers are fiction and pulled from my ass but you get what I'm saying

Ill be fine, trail and error i learned my mistake for now. It is pretty much figured out for now, unless when Eric starts tuning the car and it starts it again at which point im back at square one but i went back and forth between Johns map and Erics, Erics pulls thru to redline, Johns smashes into fuel cut and leans out really really bad by 4,500rpm with maybe 1 or 2 psi.
