@ badtiming. Not to keep beating a dead horse here on this unit but....any idea wtf this 4gig card does? According to the manual your suppose to be able to read it in the DVD menu. Is it just for throwing xtra music on? Or pictures maybe? Or is it to update maps? Any info on this would be nice. I'm also assuming that the reason I can't read it is because I still need to get that unit hooked to ground lol. But in the meantime knowing what it's officially for would be nice.

Definitely can't tell this is not oem. It really does look nice for the money. Just hope it's reliable lol. As far as how it sounds, it sounds pretty good. I would have to say that if I changed the speakers out I'd have a decent little stereo system. Of course I'm 41 so I'm not into blaring my music anymore. Just remember its not a Harmon kardon or Bose

Dude that card has all of your maps on it. It needs to be inserted into the system in order for your gps to work. When there are updates out you can load them right onto that card as well.

I will be bummed if it ends up not being reliable because I really like this system lol.

Anyone know if they make these to fit a 2013 Impreza sport? The OE look is fantastic!

As far as I know they haven't yet. They stopped making this one so they might be in the process of making one for the newer cars.

Any idea how I go about doing it? I'm sure there's gotta be updates for it by now. I'm also curious if they do updates for the system itself, meaning, maybe improve its looks or anything. Although if this is anything like our cell phones they've already forgotten about it lol.

Another thing I'd like to add is after searching the Internet for literally an hour I've discovered these unit have a tech menu. But once again no where does it say this in the manual. I had to try a few codes and finally one worked which opened a new menu and allowed me to turn the RDS on and off. It also allowed me to disable the parking brake bypass for the DVD. There's other functions in the menu but didn't seem important.

I hope this helps anyone who has this system or plans on buying one. It's a great system for the money and so far I have full bars everywhere I go with gps

Well unless you can tell me where to get the updates I'm at a loss because I've scoured the Internet for hours looking for an answer and nothing

Navigation maps and Point of Interest (POI) are H11 2010/11 Version 4Gig. Limited updates may be available by the map provider, at www.NAVIEXTRAS.com.

Found this on the ebay page... looks like updates cost $70 for maps, $10 for 3d buildings, $10 for POIs, and $20 for red-light cameras.

I am looking into this headunit.

I too found this site but wasn't sure which one to choose. I'll check back tomorrow to let you know how I made out. 70 dollars sounds steep but if it improves a lot I may just do it.

Correct me if I am wrong but don't most nav systems(subaru oem included) make you pay for updates?

Yeah most do. But my wife's Tom Tom came with unlimited updates, so not all charge you. Did you ever find out how that sd card works?

I just know that the maps are on it and if I want to get updates I insert the sd card into my computer and download them onto it. Your sd card should always stay in your system though.

Just want to clarify some things

Do the lights on the unit dim with the dimmer switch?

Do the center console aux and usb still work?

Tbh I never use the center console except for charging my phone with cigarette adapter. I'll check on the dimming thing although I don't recall seeing this option. I'll post back soon. One thing I'm running into though is when I initially start up the car and try to go to my phones Bluetooth it will not play my music until I make a call. Only then will it recognize my phones music.

Not sure if your running into this badtiming but if you are give me some idea as to what I could be doing wrong lol. Although I'm pretty good at troubleshooting this one is eluding me.

Alright first of all, yes the lights dim with the dimmer switch.
And I've never had that issue with mine, it always just let's me play my music right away. Is your phone automatically connecting when you start up your car?

Hey guys I also wanted to just say that Rosen's customer support is excellent so far! I read a lot of negative reviews about them but they have been nothing but helpful. I was trying to hack my system to have the subaru logo screen upon booting up instead of the stock rosen screen.

Hmm, this seems like something I am looking for. I want to retain all the factory buttons and keep it as clean as possible. Just looking for a unit that has a nice GPS and better sound than the stock HU. I have a 2013 WRX, so hopefully I can find one that will work with my application. The only functions I use are the ipod and bluetooth for making/receiving calls. Everything else is options I don't really use.

Do you need a new double din for this? Or will it fit right into the OEM place? Thanks for the review!!

Its all oem man. Is built to fit right in. They provide you with a new dash kit to make it fit. This should be fine with your car. I just dont know if your blue tooth steering wheel controls will work.

Review time! This is stuff i can think off my head before going to work.

Good:
-Bluetooth in a bluetoothless car
-matches fit beautifully
-super easy install
-great improvement for stock stereo
- optional parking bypass

Annoying (not bad though)
- the click noise when going through the navigation cuts out music (super annoying to me)
-the 2D rendering does not stay zoomed in for me, cant figure out how to, its just wayyyy to far to see and smaller street names ( i dont like the above 3d type of thing)
- how you have to get the city right to go somewhere when imputing the address. (e.g. St. charles (a county of St. louis) is it's own separate thing)-not a big deal but ask for the zip when getting an address

Quick question to those who have this, what is that usb input thing even used for? i have it hooked up but have no idea what it does, is it for a flashdrive files and stuff?

Pics!
so for the gps ant. I linked it behind my glove box, up my A-pillar, then around my roof line and put the gps ant. next to my homelinked mirror inside the car. reads fine except in like a garage but that doesnt really matter honestly. clean clean install and look. if someone wants pics of how to do this (easy imho) i can snap a few shots, just reply to this.

I had a friend do a Carbon Fiber warp on the bezel. I may start a biz having him make cutouts for this and sell them in the near future.

and yes i'm driving a 4EAT WRX. shush.

Do you have to navigate to the bluetooth streaming option every time you turn the car on or does it save where you left off from the last time the car was on?
Any update of whether the bluetooth steering wheel functions work?
Also, can not find the 2011-2013 wrx model :-(
