Default Can I use my WRX Cusco twin disc clutch W/STI trans

Hey, what's up everybody? I just picked up an 07 Sti transmission, driveshaft, linkage, blah blah blah. I'm going to install it in my 04 in a couple weeks and was told by a local shop that i'm going to have to change the discs in my Cusco twin disc clutch because the splines are different than the WRX. Is there anyone out there that can confirm this? It just doesn't seem accurate to me considering the WRX trans fit into my 2.5 block and from what i'm told it's a direct bolt-in with the STI trans. That means the splines are the same, right?

05 Sti block
07 Sti trans
WRX Cusco Twin Disc Clutch

Does this combo work together properly?

Splines are the same. Don't even worry about that.

Hey thanks a lot Phil. Are there any other issues I should be worried about when it comes to using this clutch/trans combination? What is the actual difference between the Sti twin-disc and the WRX twin-disc?

Well I know the guy knows everything or knows where to find it. Thanks for the link, it explains what I needed to know.

But, unfortunately I have one more question. I had trouble getting my trans out last time and the release bearing got tugged on a little bit. Is the release bearing supposed to fit into the clutch tight? When I install the release bearing and push it all the way towards the flywheel, then pull it back toward me, there is about a quarter to half inch play when I pull it back toward me and away from the clutch. Is this normal? Or should there be no play?
