Tire size?
Hey guys,
So I've currently got 225/45/18's on my '04 rex and just picked up some brand new Federal Himalayas snows for only $140 for all four. I couldn't pass up a great deal but I'm a little nervous of how large they look at first glance. They are 235/55/18's and I'm just wondering if anyone has put this size tire on a rex of my generation and or has noticed any issues with it. All feedback is helpful, thanks.

Might be wrong forum. THere's a brake/tire section.
Man, are you not rubbing at all? What wheels? Offset? Stock suspension? Rolled fenders? Spacers? <--- 17x8 wheel +48 offset, 225/45/17 Falkens Tokico Struts, GF210 Springs, and when I turn the wheel all the way it is VERY close. like an inch. Doesn't rub, but i'm very thankful I didn't go farther. Missing some variables either way, you should probably post in the relevant forum. Newbie forum is going to pelt you with misinformation if you're not careful. |

Thanks for the move, I hadn't noticed.
I am currently using the 2010 Legact GT stock 18's. They don't rub at all. I had Einkei 18's on it before these and they didn't rub either. I bought the car used and it has Eibach springs on it so I'm not sure if it has been lowered but it looks like it could have been. Everything else is stock, no rolls or spacers. |

And your current 225/45/18's are a bit tall for your gearing, if you've been wondering why the car felt slow. |

For winter, you want as narrow as will properly fit on the wheel. Preferably you'd also like as small as a wheel as you can fit so you can have a taller and softer sidewall. With a slightly shorter tire, you'll notice a pretty good increase in response and acceleration. |
