Who's interested in 2-piece OE sized rotors for the rears on the STi?
Ok guys, we need to see who's willing to pay to play. It'll cost ~$1200US+shipping for a pair of these 2-piece rear rotors. To make them feasible @ this price, we need 10 commited buyers.
These are OE STi sized in the rear, however they feature curve veined venting on the rotor and is ~50% in weight compared to the stockers. (Note: these are not suggested for those who rally and will be doing handbrake turns). The center hat will be made of 6061 Aluminum as well as Titanium on the inside that's coated with a special friction coating. If the handbrake is used as intended (parking only) then the parking brake hub will last the lifetime of the vehicle. Colors of the hats will be black, blue, or red. Only those who have our front 2-piece rotors in Gold will be able to get the rears in matching gold. The rotors themselves will be available in slotted, x-drilled or plain.

I'm more interested in H6-sized rear rotors for my WRX.

nhluhr - those who do the H6 rear brake upgrade are usually budget minded, and hence 2-piece rotors would not be a good idea.

There's a difference between budget minded and value minded.

You could get whole BBK's for the price of those rotors.

$1200 for 2-piece rotors??!! That seems a weeee bit excessive. Is it because of the titanium friction coating? Or is there some other reason?

Jon Bogert - Being that the H6 casted rotors are available from the Subaru dealership, there's no real point for us to make a 2-piece version of this since it's not even vented either. The solid non-vented rotor isn't too heavy. The cost of the 2-piece rotors for the H6 size will definately be cheaper per pair then the ones for the STi, however there's still not enough people to justify the costs associated with making a 2-piece H6 sized rotor.
thesmokingman - these are for the factory STi/Brembo rear brakes. The rotors are designed for those with STi's who want to minimize unsprung mass. |

Patrick Olsen - if we were making runs of over 1000's of them, production costs would definately be decreased.
These rotors will actually be a 3 piece design. The Aluminum hat will have a Titanium parking brake drum fitting into it. The Titanium drum itself will have a special friction coating on it as well. If we wanted to make this cheaper, we could forgo the Titanium drum section and just have it all aluminum.. however the aluminum hats will now become a wear & tear item rendering it VERY costly over time. IIRC Project Mu might have something. However the center hat is a wear and tear item for their rotors. |

Dumb question: why not just make the hat and parking brake drum out of iron? It's the two piece construction and floating rotor aspect that is most appealing. I'd gladly trade a lb of weight and a bit of bling for the reliability of a conventional parking brake and low cost vs some aluminum titanium thing.
BTW, who makes the rotors used in your two-piece STI fronts? From your earlier ad in the Vendor Classifieds you said "Rotors are made in USA." Coleman? Wilwood? How many vanes? There is such a wide range in quality... |

iON Performance Inc,
Just saw this thread....... Put me down for a pair whenever you are ready to make them I buy anything for my car that are made out of titanium ~50% weight reduction!! I got the pictures for my front rotors but don't have a good way to host the pics. I will try a new way to host them and I will do a write up on them. Sorry it is taking me so long. In case no one else want these rear rotor, how much are they for 1 pair just for me? Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee ADDICT |

Jon Bogert - having the rear drum section made from cast iron will defeat the purpose of a multi-piece set-up. The weight saving would only be marginal compared the the stocker. It'd be more of a "bling" factor if that's the case.
JDM addict - if you want you can email us your pics of the fronts and we'll host them Making just 1 pair would be VERY expensive... hopefully there'll be enough interest |

iON--I think I understand what you're presenting here (cost no object lightness) but I think you may be misunderstanding what I'm looking for (durability for road and track use, distortion resistance, temperature isolation and ease and low cost of rotor replacement).
Like many people, I have no problem paying a hefty price up front, as long as it saves money in the long run. About your rotors: - who makes the rotor itself? - how many vanes? - what is the means of attaching the bell to the rotor? fixed? floating? those cute little spring washers like Stoptech? - what's the replacement cost for the rotor alone (without the bell)? |

Come on, you know you want the rear rotors The front rotor is 6 lbs lighter per rotor, the rear should be more because the center hub is bigger!! If they are 10 lbs lighter, I would die from happiness ADDICT |

Jon Bogert - sorry, the thread dropped back a few pages.. anyways here are your Q's answered ->
(a) The rotors are custom casted by Coleman. (b) They are 48 directionally curved viens (c) These are a floating rotor design. (d) The replacement cost of the rotor itself is ~$250US/rotor. However when it comes time to replacing the rotor, all you need to do is send it back to us along with the funds for the rotors and we'll switch them over to the new rotors for free (it also includes the full dynamic balancing on them). This will insure that they are properly done. |

I'll just assume it'd be extremely improbable that you have rear rotors for a Legacy Turbo. So I'll just bump this up for free.

Do you recommend cross drilled slotted or plain for someone that does a lot of canyon driving?
