YES, We are still a good bit shorter than the SPT option. Coupled with our front and rear shifter bushings you will be very happy camper.

That settles it. Thank you very much, I will be getting in on that group buy then.

Can someone advise me on how much it would cost to get it professionally installed? Inb4 do it yourself, easy with tools, etc. I live in an apartment complex with a communal garage, don't have jacks. Peace of mind is worth the $ for me. I live in So Cal so have a plethora of places I can go to.

Can you do that? Use the SPT shifter linkage along with the KB shifter lever and the KB bushings?

Can anyone give an opinion of the kartboy vs. mode shifter for the STI? Hate the derail, but was curious as no one had mentioned the mode shifter.
I installed the mode shifter on my car and I love it! Being able to adjust it to how you like is great. I have my throw set almost to the shortest throw but not quite. My buddy with an '06 STI and another with an '07 WRX both commented that they loved how my shifter felt and they both have the kartboy SS with bushings on their cars (haven't installed my bushings yet). After driving with mine for a while and then driving my buddy's STI, his throws are longer and a lot notchier.

While their kartboy shifters are still very nice, and a huge improvement over stock, I'm very happy I went with the mode racing shifter. I like having the adjustability and it's very easy to adjust as well. Very solid and beautiful looking piece as well, shame to hide it under the shift boot. I believe that the mode shifter was only about $15 more than the kartboy through rallysportdirect.com. Well worth it in my opinion.

If you're a set it and forget it type of person though, the kartboy is nice. But with the mode you can fine tune to find the perfect spot for you.

Hope that helps you with your decision.

You can buy an extender from I believe WC Lathewerks that makes the shift knob higher.

Combine that with a SS (Kartboy, COBB, STi, etc.) and bushings and you'll be good to go.

I'm in on the group buy too. Fingers crossed that we get a good turnout on it. Seems like a great deal regardless though.

Yes, it's still going on until the 31st. We have already hit the lowest price tier and TiC has added a few optional discounts for added savings on other parts.

EDIT: he beat me to it.

I cancelled the STS and bushing option on my WRX (still waiting). I will be installing the kartboy lever and front/rear bushings. With so many people that recommend it, you can't go wrong!

Also check out WC Lathe Werks and TWM Performance for some killer shift knobs. Blox and Moddiction are some cheaper alternatives to aftermarket shift knobs.

I have the SPT short shifter and it doesn't feel that bad then again I am coming from a car with over 220K. I plan on getting the new bushings though not just yet.

I emailed Chris at Lathe Werks on Monday and I received the new shift knob on Wed nice quick turn around. Also living in Jersey helps with a shorter shipping.
sorry for the crappy iPhone pics.

I had him do a blue to purple fade. I haven't had a time to try it out but I do like the feel with the two groves at the bottom
I also asked him if he could shorten the stem but ended up keeping it.

I'll let you know tomorrow as for the shift knob it was the Titanium WRX Sphere. It has a nice solid feel to it. I have larger hands and it has a nice feel to it. I wouldnt mind a Cue Ball sized shift knob but maybe Ill talk to him about it later.

The drive in wasn't bad with the new shift knob. It did fee a little more solid when shifting gears though that may just be all in the head. either way I love the feel of the shift knob vs the OEM one.

This video was basically just the STS install. This is the first time I've ever seen anything this detailed so forgive my ignorance here.

Is there a DIY vid of the shifter and the KB bushings that are part of the kit that aid in the crisper shift feel or did I just see that in the video and he simply took the OEM bushing and moved it to the KB STS?

I'd want to do the STS and the bushings. I have all these tools and the STS install itself looks extremely easy.

our shifter combo is 175.00 http://www2.kartboy.com/x4/product.p...4&bestseller=Y

Install you can do yourself if you are handy with tools. or better yet. meet some subaru friends in your area that are doing an install day.

Our setups are a good bit shorter than the SPT optional setup. We've been having great results with our kits on the new platforms.

Congrats on the new car. What color did you wind up ordering? sedan or 5 door?

Tom
Hey Tom,

I was looking at getting the kartboy SS for my '11 Sti, because I hear nothing but good things. However, I am just alittle hesistant seeing the black zip ties in the pic on the Kartboy Website. What is the purpose of the zip ties? Do they use zip ties stock or on the SPT?

Thanks,

Brian

The zip ties are just for a rubber dust cover, don't worry about it.

I had the SPT STS, went with the KB STS and KB front/rear bushings and it is 1000x better.

when you remove your stock shifter you will see zip ties on that also, you will just put the new ones on just like the old.
