26.1 average so far - but can't keep my foot off the pedal - the boxer sounds so nice. 1300 miles CVT

5 speed Sport Premium. I have been averaging ~27mpg most of the time, considering that involved a combination of highway and stop and go I am very pleased. When I get a tank of just highway, I easily get over 30mpg and twice now I have gotten over the 33mpg that the vehicle is rated at.

Over the 4th, I drove from Syracuse up into the Adirondack's which was a round trip of 340 miles. Most was winding 2 lane roads with a lot of elevation change and the last 15 miles were a rough gravel/dirt/sand road. On this trip I averaged 34.8mpg! By the way, these numbers are all calculated by fuel fill ups and trip distances.

Side note, the Rally Armor flaps I just purchased worked very well on the 30 miles of rough road I traveled. I heard almost no rocks being flung at the sides or underside of the car, a large difference from before.

Admittedly my 100% around town has been less than expected at 20US mpg but I've just got back from a 600 mile trip with 3 kids and a trunk full of luggage where my average was 42US mpg with a startling best of 45 at one fuel stop all the while sitting mostly on or near our HWY limit of 67mph.

My remark to the missus at the last stop was this is diesel mpg and better than my motorcycles.

500 miles on the 5 speed sport. first fillup was 27mpg mixed calculated @ 200 miles. I am on my second tank. currently reading 36 mph average with 32.2 mpg average. Pretty mixed driving with some brisk take offs here and there to run the Rs up through the band. highway speeds are usually 70-75 mph. I am pretty happy considering i only have 500 miles on it and its already calculating to at least 30 mpg mixed. I should note that the AC has been blasting the entire time as its been 90-100 degrees in chicago lately.

Your odometer, fuel economy, and driving style/break in process sound almost identical to mine!

I've always gotten good mileage. Mostly rural driving 35-45 mph. My average speed on the readout is 34 mph.
My average mpg's according to the display for this tank is 32.8! I tapped some loose debris (bugs mostly) from the air filter. Since subaru doesn't check or change them till 15k, I might go ahead and buy a new one this weekend. While my new seat is getting put in.
My mpg's for the life of the car (9000mi) on the readout is 30.2.

Our experience with this Impreza is different than our previous Subarus (3 Legacy's and 1 Impreza). We have beaten the hwy numbers for our mixed average (all manual trans) on all our previous Subarus. Not so with the CVT. However, the CVT does get better than any of our previous Subarus and 3.5 mpg better than our 2010 Impreza Premium. We have 11k miles on the car and it drives mostly highway with a daily elevation change of 5280ft to 7800ft. The calculated mpg is 33.6 at an average of 36.3 mph. Best tank was 38.0 mpg at 55 mph.

my numbers are creeping up... running average of 28.3 mpg... lifetime average of 24.9. between the TSB updates & approaching this supposed 10K break in period... i'm approaching a happy place & accepting my #s for what they are. it is in fact a huge improvement over my previous SUV & with AWD i can't complain. after this last oil change they adjusted my gauge slightly & it was only 1/2 mile off this last fill up. all of my tanks are mixed driving but here's my 100% highway trip after filling up tonight. a 50 mile stretch averaging between 60-65 mph using cruise when able to. color me happy!

Good stuff!! I'm a bit jelly I must say. I guess I shouldn't complain, I did 150 mile (round trip) with 95% highway with the A/C on the whole time. I got 33.5 MPG (calculated).

Since getting this car, I have found I drive a lot different in the effort of getting good mileage. If anything, I feel in conjunction with the ECO gauge, I am becoming a more efficient driver.

Did the tech tell you how much he adjusted it to? I would like to get it done. I am anywhere from 1-3 MPG off. Kind of annoying considering my wife's CR-V is usually good down to the tenth MPG. The same goes with my STI. Almost like they try to be optimistic to make you feel better.

They didn't tell me anything as far as how they did it. In the service manual it says it can be adjusted 5/10 +/- The first time I asked they looked at me cross-eyed. This time they just said okay. I told them mine ran 6-7% high on average. Since it's still high slightly I'm going to assume they adjusted it 5%.

& I will surely see this tank's #s go down from there. In fact as soon as I got off the thruway & hit my city drive it's already down but still showing 37. Aside from the road trips my driving is a mix of extreme city & highway on a daily basis. My best TANK was only 31.7 MPG after a long highway trip. So... don't be too jelly.

Give it time, you will see yours improve I'm sure. & I too have changed my driving habits overall thanks to this Eco Gauge. Although no gauge will really eliminate my inner speed demon.

I've debated about getting mine adjusted but I'm almost 100% certain my odometer is off by 3%. So the reported mileage is pretty close to what it should be. (seems off by around 5% on average)

second fill up
5MT sport
600 miles on car
13 gallons with 375 trip= 28.8mpg calculate, 30.5 on dash. Mixed driving @35 mph average. AC on full the entire tank.

Car does good till you hit stop lights and traffic, then it guzzles gas. I am not complaining about the mpgs, my truck and jeep both get 14-15 driving the same commute.

I have roughly 7200 miles on my '12 Impreza Sport. As far as my MPG i am averaging 28 mpg (85% highway) in a hilly area of northern NJ.

http://www.fuelly.com/driver/ryanwalt525/impreza

My main concern is the fueling of the vehicle. After i fill it up all 12 clicks on the gauge are lit but on most fuel runs (basically if i don't top it off an extra dollar or so) within 5 to 10 miles i lose a click and am down to 11. I feel like I am getting the car full of fuel and on most fuel runs i can get it to 360 to 380 miles before the gauge it is down to 1 click and the fuel light comes on. I took it to the dealer and they felt it had to due with each gas station pump being different and may shut off earlier than others. Anybody else having issues with their sensor after filling up?

i have pretty much used the same gas station for all of my fill ups (except for one other station/tank), and for these two stations, i get anywhere from 45-65miles before the first click disappears.

have you tried other stations?

another ballpark for me, is when the 4th light disappears (1/4 remaining shows) i usually fill up just around 10 gallons. (so there is apparently 4.5 gallons left when the gauge starts showing 1/4 tank.

I've tried several different stations and most recently found one that was keeping my 12 clicks full til approx mile 50 to 65. I would pay in cash which forces them to top it off to the nearest full dollar. However, yesterday when i went through the same routine which had been working, after 4 miles i lost my first click. I'm just trying to figure out if others are experiencing the same issue or if i'm alone in this boat. I've been keeping track of the posts in these forums since March and have not one time seen anyone post the same complaint. i love my Impreza otherwise and seem to learn something new about it all the time which makes it fun to drive...

that doesn't sound right. (4 miles!)

i do admit though, that i fill to the nearest half dollar. but at nearly $4/gallon, that amounts to about ~4 miles (assuming ~30 mpg) extra due to the top off. even a buck gets you only 7-8 miles.

again, hopefully my "10 gallons" at 3 bars left will give you another check point. others can perhaps chime in regarding other estimates for their cars.

I get approximately 50 miles before the first segment of the gas gauge turns off.

Once thing I do that might make a difference is that as soon as I hear that the tank is almost full (you can hear it when it starts to come up the filler neck), I reduce how much I squeeze the nozzle so that it fills more slowly the rest of the way. This is an old diesel fuel trick; diesel foams more than gas, so this was something I did to help fill up.

As of Sunday, 2210 miles on my 5 door CVT. Average MPG so far is 28.40, with the best tank being 31.56 MPG (both calculated, display is 1-2 MPG high typically). Still getting my best mileage around 55 MPH. It's the city driving and short commute to work that's dropping my average down. Can't wait to get a chance to do a road trip on the two-lane for a tank, and see the final number.

Car is so fun to drive, every now and then I can't resist putting the pedal down and saying the heck with the fuel economy....

"They" are topping it off?! What hell of a namby-pamby area do you live in? Obviously, if 'they' don't fill it full, you ain't gonna get 50 miles on the first bar!

Base model. Get about 120-140km on first bar. Which I think is about 70 miles?

I noticed the first half of the bars go slower, the last half of the bars drop quickly. My last car was like that too.
