Default good place for window tint in StL

After getting my windows tinted at 35% all around (legal limit for sides) and having the guy who did it mess up a couple of times and then never return my phone calls after which I still have blemishes in my window tint on the rear and driver's side rear door window and he ignored my phone calls; I decided to bite the bullet and just get them all retinted. But this time I want to make sure the place I go to is a reputable place. I've been to Quality Glass on Manchester for previous cars and they're good but kinda pricey so I thought I'd poll some local guys to see if they have any other places to suggest.

Also, for those who do have their side windows tinted, do you have them at the legal limit or darker? If darker, have you had your car in for the state safety inspection (not emissions) and did they still pass you or did you get any grief for having windows tinted darker than the legal 35% limit.

When I get them re-tinted I'd like to go darker than 35, not for looks so much as 35% doesn't do that good at cutting out much sun. With the really warm temps lately my car is still getting pretty hot. While I don't want 5%, I figured 20-25% would be perfect. With 15%, I think may be getting to the "please pull me over" range with cops.

Any suggestions of tint shops, and replies about darker than legal tint and passing state inspections is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, and sorry for the lengthy post.

Also, NEVER... NEVER go to The Tint Source out in St. Charles, run by a guy named Dan, he doesn't back his work up for ****.

I have never heard of tint source...I have been going to cool shades in st. charles but some people do not like hiim. I am going to try out quality tint and glass off of manchester. Heard they are very good cost 255. Kinda of expensive in my opinion but may be well worth it. When my car comes in I am taking my car there the next day for sure.

Since on the subject of window tint...what do you think about the sunstrip that goes on the front glass. Should I get it or not? I was dead set on one but talking with a few people they say it looks werid. What do you think?

I got one on my GC8 when I had Tint Source do it... it isn't a really low one so its really not noticeable.. it doesn't look weird at all. I don't have a pic showing it online but I can post one later if you want... Don't know if it'll make much difference for you since you're getting a new Impreza, but let me know

It's not weird...it just reminds me of slammed Civics and low rider trucks.

Yeah, I bet it would look pretty weird if it went halfway down the windshield... well that would look just plain stupid. I need to take a pic of mine and show it... its pretty short and not noticeable at all.

That does look good. I figured this. I am going to have it tinted without and if I decide later I want it I can always add it on and its not that much. It is a pain in the butt to take off. I got my wrx today. I love it so much. Friday I scheduled a tinting appointment at quality tint and glass.

Congrats on the new car, hope to see it at some of the meets, if us St. Louis people ever schedule one in advance so everyone can make it.
