That sounds like a winner. You using this on a 2.5 or 2.0l?

2.5L I'm not going to push it too hard, as the car still has its stock block and transmission. 76k and growing
I'm sure the turbo will easily be capable of making one or both go boom. I emailed kmak, specifically about there sts turbine wheel hopefully they get back to me about that and it's not too ridiculously priced. 1600 dollars seems kind of ridiculous for a non ball bearing turbo, new technology or not. ~Evil Last edited by EvileyeZ88; 12-29-2012 at 03:23 AM. |

I will ahve my KAmak 20-GTX STS 9-blade tuned in a month after break-in. I had my compressor cover thermal coated red to match my IC piping.
This will be running off a full stage-2 motor build (all forged internals) ELH, GS UP-Pipe, PTP turbo blanket, Full stage-2, TGV deleted, Air Pump deleted etc.......you can check my build thread. |

GS-uppipe is a poor choice for your turbine housing, too small ID, and not a fan of 2-bolt flange, flex-joints... you should have gotten an ELH 3-bolt with uppipe combo, ID would match your turbine.

Thank you for your recomendations, I can always change later, got a steal on the ELH (300) brand new! Couldnt resist that temptation. I can always have my tuner weld on a 3-bolt flange and make an up-pipe i guess.

So how much did you end up paying for the Kamak STS turbo?

Issue is not the 2-bolt flange or flex joint, issue is the ID is 6.5mm smaller than your turbine. You could have bought a Kinugawa ELH with proper uppipe for $450.
The Kinugawa uppipe that came with the ELH is huge (51.5mm ID) vs a high-flow Grimmspeed EWG 2-bolt Uppipe (45mm ID), it is a perfect match for the TD06SL2 turbine housing (50mm ID). GS Top / Kinugawa Bottom Grimmspeed Uppipe Kinugawa Uppipe Turbo Turbine Inlet, I will probably port match it to uppipe outlet 51mm Last edited by V8 GTFO Lesbic WGN; 11-28-2012 at 04:57 PM. |

Hard to read the gauges from reflections. What rpm does full boost come in?

It's 3rd in a 5spd. If it was in a 6spd it would have went through the gear much quicker. |

I have the 20 GTX STS, is this the STS 9-blade exhasut wheel? As far as the up-pipe I wastold not to go with an overly big diameter as the gases slow dramatically, dont know if thats true. At least that was what I was told with the HTA68 turbo.

I have the legacy style td06sl2 20g 8cm with a 2.4 inlet on my 2011 forester xt 4eat and can say that this turbo is so much better then my vf52 i had on it befor. I expected it to much more laggy but im seeing 20psi by 3800 rpm in 3rd gear and its almost instant. I find it to be a much more easy turbo for day to day driving because the power is more linear and comes in later with the torque and boost compaired to a high strung 23psi vf52. We have not finished tuning it yet and im very eager to see what more lies with this turbo as we have it tapering hard for safety until the road tune wednesday looking to peak around 22psi on e85.

Good to see another Kinugawa owner on board.
I installed my billet 18G over the weekend. I'm trying to find time to install the injectors and work up a solid map. So far, I can comment that the billet actuator is rock solid with boost control @ 1 bar spring pressure. I'll add my install findings to this thread later this week. |

Things I noted during my install.
The included braided steel oil line was too long for my taste, and there was no way to comfortably retain my hotside blanket and Cobb heatshield with this line. I understand the braided line is longer to fit non AVCS engines where the turbo oil feed is down on the head. I used the original VF39 oil line with the appropriately threaded banjo bolt supplied in the kit. The larger compressor cover interferes with the block vent/AOS drain. I noted the same issue with a Dom1.5XTR I installed over the summer. Not a big deal, just thought it was worth mentioning. I had enough give in my hoses to just flex the adapter forward. I had to bend the top coolant pipe a bit to clear the Hyperflow TMIC. Also normal for upsized turbos and intercoolers. DW 850cc injectors and initial tune will be done tomorrow night, I'll post some logs as soon as I can. |

You guys have me close too buying a TD06SL2-20G soon. Once I break in my built motor in my forester I may have to swap my vf48 out for one of these.

I had a few fitment issue with the 20G on my11 Built block, there was actually a spacer we had to use to clear the block. There is a spacer included with the kit, dont know if it is for the 20G only though. IT comes with extended studs as well.
In the last pic you can see the spacer in between the GS upipe and housing. |

Thats a first for me. Why are the spacers needed? I'm sure interference issues but where?

I think the STS spools slightly faster than a regular or even SL2 turbine, but it seems to me that the torque drop from the max is slightly sharper than otherwise. |

- STS Turbine wheel:
It comes with 9 blades high flow and KAMAK fastest response type, only 1/3 weight of other types which can reach low-end torque and top-end power. |
