Default Angled Exhaust

How does one get that custom angled exhaust look like this Megan:

-A good muffler shop?
-Kartboy long exhaust hangers?
-What?

Yeah, I wasn't really planning on that big ricy angle, but something similar to that.

I was planning on getting an apexi n1 muffler or megan n1 muffler and have a muffler shop fab it.

I couldn't get the muffler shop to have it point upward because they said it would touch the bumper.

Anyone?

Just bring it to an exhaust shop and tell them that's how you want it... it's not hard at all.

IMO, best looking a$$ ever:

okay, a large majority, like 70 percent, do. I'm just trying to get the point across that it's not something people are doing themselves, they're buying them that way.

why would you want an exhaust shop to do it? invidia n1, apexi n1, hks hi power and carbon ti are all angled exhausts that look just like that.

Like they make those exhausts for my non-turbo subaru, cept the apexi n1.

I don't want to spend money on a shiny pipe when my current custom cat-back does just fine. This is to save money.

So buying an oversized invidia n1 or overpriced HKS won't do it for me.
I just want to save money by having a muffler shop do it.

I already asked a muffler shop my family and I go to all the time to do it but they said the muffler would touch the bumper.
I'm just curious what I would need.

Maybe the muffler shop doesn't have the stuff to do it and I should try another place?

I'm speaking in generalities, but IMO most exhausts that are preferred by Subaru enthusiasts are muffler style, not can style; the percentage of can style who have angled cans is a bit lower than non-angled.

The newer gens are different though, I think the hatches are better looking with angled.

The muffler shop can kiss your ass b/c I had mine really heavily angled and it didn't touch my bumper. The 30-45 degree bend near the rear diff is what will determine how close to the bumper the can will come. If the shop drops that bend down a little lower and make a little bit more of an angle out of the bend, you'll be perfect.

Maybe it's also the fact they used my original metal hangers that are very short.

Maybe I just find a different muffler shop next time and hopefully they'll do it?
You didn't need kartboy long hangers or anything?

Maybe I should get new hangers because I like that gap between the bumper on that AE86.

Its only a bend that angles it like that. If your exhaust place can't do it, then go find a shop who actually knows what they're doing.

Edit: they make have to cut your existing muffler off and create a new axleback piece with the bend. But it's very easily done.

NEVER Get a COMMON/muffler shop to do it. DON'T go to meineke, monro, or any common shops like those ones.

GO to a real muffler/tuner shop that specializes in tuning cars and custom fabbing things.

I had bad experience with meineke and monro.

Here's mine soon to be for sale lol if anyones interested:

those chain exhaust shops are a joke. I had one tell me they wouldn't make an exhaust for my car because "it would be a waste of time"...I've never seen a shop turn down work before.

+1 for a mom and pop exhaust shop.

Not all the chains are a joke, it just depends on who's working in them. My dad had a great exhaust done at Midas.

I'll just go to a local/non-chain branch then.

It seems they care more about making customers satisfied and pride rather than some nationally owned chain that only cares about money.

I'll bring some kartboy long exhaust hangers with me. I like some of the exhausts on here and I really like how the exhaust sits on the AE86.

Talking Saggy Cans :-P

Uhh, I thought I had stumbled upon a sarcastic post...until the 6th lengthy and heart-felt reply.
These are Subarus we are talking about here, and this is the Normally Aspirated Powertrain page...not the "rice it up" page. The classy thing is to get a real high-flow muffler, high-flow cat, and some good headers. Then go make friends with the guy doing the work at an independent exhaust shop. Then have him fab and install you a perky, tucked-up-in-there, system of like 2.5" or 2.75".

Oh also, big tips let out some less than great sounds, and can drone on the highway...instead have a look at some of the best sounding super cars:

Note that the trend is dual, medium size, exhaust exits. Or even dual exhaust.

I encourage anyone with a Subaru to kick it old school, and operate off the, "GO BEFORE SHOW" mantra. Lets save some rice for starving kids in the 3rd world.

(let the flaming begin)

It all had to do with the bends in the piping. The way the piping is bent is dependend on the angle
