Can you win an eBay auction with a reserve if you are the only one bidding?
What I mean is, if the reserve is $200 and I put in $210 as my highest bid. Will it jump up to the reserve amount or only up to the next highest increment of say $10? Or do I need someone else to keep bidding until we get up to the reserve? I assume it'll just jump up, because the other way would make no sense, but I've never had a chance to try it. Please let me know.

If you put in $210 as your highest bid, it will put in a bid for $200 and say reserve met. (i think)

It will hit the reserve amount, then if someone else bids, say, $205, then it will tell them that they are still not the high bidder and to keep going if they want to win said auction.
That was a long sentence, I R tired... |

Yes. What you need to do is bid the maximum amount you are willing to pay. If the auction ends with your sole bid, you can contact the seller and let them know what you bid, and that you would like them to do a "second chance" offer. If the seller accepts, he can initiate it, and then you can pay your bid amount.
Note that the second chance thing will use your MAXIMUM bid, so don't bid more than you want to pay. I recently bought a domain name that way. It had a reserve, but was only bid up to $570 by myself and other bidders. My max bid was $1100. I emailed the seller and he agreed to the $1100, so he sent me the second chance thing. |

In the ones I have done in the past, it only shows the highest bid needed to be on top, not to meet the reserve.
I have lost an item because my bid was too low, but my range was above the reserve. The seller can not see your highest available bid. |
