Default ebay exhaust

let the flaming commence:

I just bought a nameless catback on ebay for my bugeye wrx, and went to a friend's to install it this afternoon. after some finagling around, notching the rear diff cover plate, and slightly bending the hangers, it's fitting. except it's pointing down. It's not on upside-down, but it's definitely pointing down, rather than that typical graceful upward swoop.

It sounds pretty awesome when it's idling or revving, but when I'm cruising, it drones like a mother, and I can actually FEEL the drone vibrating parts of the cabin.

I know, I know "you get what you paid for" and I didn't shell out much cash, but was wondering a couple things:
1. Has anyone ever even heard of a downward-pointing exhaust?
2. Will the drone go away over time, or am I stuck with it?

Please help me not be a sad banana anymore.

i had an ebay catback donated to me after i swapped my rs and that mofo was loud especially with a catless dp. i would say it might tone down a little after breaking in? but if you're local law enforcement doesnt care for it then keep using it lol.

I've seen custom exhaust pointing down unless you mean a fart cannon that angles downward? mine was angled up and hugging on my bumper

If you want a cheap exhaust get the m2 one on eBay. I have had it for over a year and its great. Sounds like the cobb one and the fitment is spot on.

I have a Surewin catback which was $185 off ebay and its one of the quietest exhausts I've heard on a suby. I did my research and it paid off. Full 3" turbo back no cats or resonators and it doesnt drone. All my exhaust is ebay stuff, and im very satisfied I paid under $500 for a full turboback and up pipe where name brand **** would have put me over $1,500. my 2 cents. The exuast tip is also only 4" so it doesn't even look big. A lot of guys go with aftermarket hangers but I like the way mine sits right under my bumbper. I've had it on there for over 2 years now and I've never even had black sut build up on my bumper and I dont wash it nearly as often as I should.

If you had done a little research before ordering you would have found a few ebay exhausts that fit fine and sound good. Two are listed above and another is the SRS Type RE.

If it's something you can't live with on a DD I suggest getting a new one. If not you will just hate your car more and more each day.

P.S. took me a month of research to find the right exhaust for my Durango and I'm so glad I took the time because it sounds amazing.

i know several guys who have bought cheap ebay exhaust that have been great for them.....one guy got the whole thing including a catless up pipe for $280 iirc and it was a great buy....he didnt use the up pipe but sold it for $50 and the guy who bought it didnt have any problems with it

ya just gotta buy the right stuff and the quality can be a lil hit or miss but....id rather pay $300 for exhaust and laugh at the genius that paid $1k for the same damned thing

Agreed. I wish they came with two resonators like the JDM exhausts
