change oil filter with every oil change?
I am kind of stuck. i went to get a new filter and oil and the guy gave me the wrong filter. It was at napa and he crossreference the purolator part and ended up giving me the wrong filter. Anyway, i am stuck here until i get a new filter because i am half way through the job. Can i reuse my old filter or is this not advised? Thanks for any help.

If you can't get a filter now because you are without a car, just reuse the old one. Get a new one when you get back to the part store, just change the filter without changing the oil. You are going to spill a little oil, so just put a drain pan beneath the filter when you unscrew it, and make up the difference with some fresh oil. Check dipstick to see how much oil you need.
Don't worry, your oil will not all come out. |
