Picking this car up Friday, how did I do for $12k?
I realize I can't make threads asking what it's worth but I've committed to this car and will be picking it up next weekend.
The car comes with boxes and boxes of parts, interior and exterior are perfect. Originally listed for $14k the price was agreed on at $12k. Here's the ad: --------------------------------------------------- Year: 2003 Make: Subaru Model: WRX Color: PSM Mileage: 64,000 Transmission: Manual Description: I'm selling my 2003 Subaru Imprezza WRX. It currently has under 65,000 miles on it. It is currently a weekend driver/summer car so it wont see any more miles. It was daily driven at this modification level for a month and half, and drive to a from Connecticut. I averaged around 22mpg during those periods. The car drives like a dream just had a fresh alignment done last june when it was detailed. Inspected in October of 2012. I had the car dyno tuned last year at r/t tuning for the current upgrades and it layed down 320 AWHP and 277 TQ. The car pulls hard when needed and cruises like a champ. The coilovers were recently taken apart and cleaned up, and i installed a new set of swift springs for a better ride. I have a bunch of boxes of spare parts that i will be including. The boxes have both stock and aftermarket parts. The car is blast i loved driving it, handles like it is on rails and will put a smile on your face. I was looking for a daily driver with some character, something I can tinker with, reliable, and turbo. I don't think I could have done any better. Coming from the world of NA Audis and classic cars. Sounds like you are buying a modded Subaru. Hope you realize you'll want a compression and leak down test done. Also hope you're not making this thread to JUSTIFY your purchase.

Compression test being done this week on sellers dime. I made this thread to see if my patience has paid off.

I would be careful buying a used modded WRX or any used modded tuner car in general. Chances are they beat the crap out of it. Take a mechanic or somebody that is highly knowledgeable about WRX's. You don't want to spend this kind of money only to find out that you will have to spend a lot of money repairing it. Been there, done that.

Sounds like a really good deal. Looks to have been modded correctly, if that word can even be used in this context.

The fiance went and bought a 2013 Impreza last week. 618 miles on it and I was convinced to finally go subaru. Although alittle older, its more my style. I mainly had questions about the daily relibalility of these particular mods. The seller knows what he is doing and the build looks safe from what I can gather on here. I need to get at least 200k out of my cars or I consider it a failure on my part.
Just wanted to add that I am by no means an automotive noob. I simply come from the world of ratrods, side exit exhaust, V8 swaps into tiny jap cars, and old cafe racer bikes. Earlier in life it was european cars, vws & audis. My current daily is a 01 audi a4 with 215k on it, coil overs, chip, exhaust, blah blah blah. Its finally starting to give me problems and I think its time to upgrade. Owner says he is getting out of the Subaru game. He is currently building a track 240 and has other daily drivers to use. Pending the compression test numbers and some major objections from the mechanic as to its daily driver reliability im all for it. Last edited by Euro Skank; 02-27-2013 at 08:34 AM. |

Price is fair. People who take care of their cars won't sell them for nothing, so that's just fine. Enjoy!

Mods add 0 value to the car. You're hoping to get 200k+ miles out of the car with that level of mods? Sure, you'll get there, but your wallet won't be happy. Even with the low miles and relatively clean mod list, I wouldn't have paid more than $10k for this. Good luck.

I've seen this car countless times. The price is not unreasonable. If I was selling it, I wouldn't sell it for less than 12 either. But then again; I wouldn't pay 12 for it. I've also talked to the owner of this and he's been trying to sell it awhile, I wouldn't buy it but that's because I buy cheap to sell for more. 12k is reasonable if you're going to keep it. You won't find many with low miles and nice mods for much less than that. Goodluck brother, avoid posting pictures and info about SOMEBODY else's car until you actually have it.

I think it boils down to how you feel about the current and previous owner. I wouldn't buy a heavily modded car unless I was confident the owner had done things right and taken care of the car from a maintenance standpoint. The logical extreme here is buying a race car--you wouldn't buy one without a well-established history. But if that history is there, you're likely to get a steal vs. spending all of the money to build the same car yourself. Incidentally I'm selling my 2005 PSM WRX Wagon, which has twice as many miles but NEVER any mods, and I'm listing it for $9.5k with quite a few bites so far...
