2010 wrx w/ Cobb stage 2 OTS overboosting
Perrin Catted downpipe
Perrin Cat back STOCK intake Filter Forge BPV running a yellow spring (15-23PSI) I did some datalog, and although they are not till redline, i still logged them and noticed that i am fairly above the boost target i should be. The man log i did i knocked out 18.7 PSI top, tapering down. but the mini log i did, where i just floored it WOT from a cruise, i hit 19.43 max. Can anyone else help me out and look at my maps? is there any other issues other than the overboost? i DO hear a light pitched howl at WOT and max boost so that's another oddity. Datalog 1 is the normal 3krpm and up Datalog 3 is the overboost i caught (I'm sorry but I'm posting this at work on my phone so I can't upload the maps onto here, so I'll have the link to the cobbforums thread till I gr home tomorrow night.) http://www.cobbforums.com/forums/sho...2-overboosting ------------------------------ also, took the advise from Cobb and installed the LWG version of the stage 2 map. Here's what I've found: Well I installed the LWG map and all was good untill this morning. I hit 18.3 psi and if i recall correctly it should be at 16.8 with an acceptance of +/- 0.8. I did a datalog but it was on my way to work (where I am now) and I won't be able to upload it here until tomorrow. Temps were 44 degree outside. I asked Perrin if the downpipe might be restricing the wastegate at all and they said that should not be an issue. I do hear a wierd noise at times under full boost that sounds like a howl, might be normal for a downpipe tho I'm no sure. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced! Rob

Pressure test for any vacuum/boost/air leaks first.

Never thought of that. How would I do it?
I just re rightened my bolts For the ic and bpv. Hopefully that's all it would be but im doubting that's it. Wastegate feels like it opens just fine as well. Last edited by Robstunner; 03-14-2010 at 11:14 AM. |

could try that tomorrow, I really hope that's not the case tho. The bpv is 100% recirc and holds the proper spring

I have basicly the same set up, but do not have the BPV, just the stock.
I am actuly getting the same results you are in my 08. I changed to the LWG map and of course it does not pull as hard; does seem to help with the overboosting. Hope this helps, to let you know your not the only one..... |

so if installed my catted dp pipe on my 2010 wrx do i have to download the stage 2 93 LWG instead of the other one i live in chicago too. Also rob did you wrap your perrin cat only itself with exhaust wrap because looks like there is no heat shield around there and its close to the axle boot. any advice would be great. thanks |

i would do the normal stage 2 map and data-log. see if you over-boost, because all engines are different and u might not, even tho i do. if you do, log the LWG map and see how it turns out. No i didn't wrap anything on the DP, i was considering getting a heat shield since i have nothing on there right now (cobb) but i wanted to make sure it will fit without a problem because the stock one definitely wont! |

Your airflow looks to be a tad low for stage 2 and some of your long-term fuel trims are trending to the more extreme positive end. This may be indicating that you have the so-called "tired" MAF sensor that is common with these older cars. I would go ahead and replace the MAF sensor with a new one. I know it is an unexpected expense, but it is so critical to safe engine operation, that if there is any doubt, it is best to replace it, especially on the older Subarus. I would also get a pressure/smoke test of the intake tract done. Bill |

It was pretty loud.. someone suggested that maybe a fender piece was making the noise.. can get it to make it again plus it was over 120mph don't do that often..
And as far as I know no one had touched it other than mods listed.. although I did buy it used.. |

Check both of your front fender wheel liners. I have gotten my car up to 150 and they tear out around the bolt that holds them in. I have an 11 STI. There is only one bolt, the rest of it is those plastic push things. Even after replacing them we had to use bigger washers that hold it in because the bolt is right next to the edge of the wheel liner it rips easily. It does sound like a howling noise.

Yeah if its like on the 2011 STI they rip out easily from the one point where there is an actual bolt holding it, poor design. Just make sure none of the fender liner is hanging outside the bumper cover. Only because of where I live and work can I actually get my car up to those insane speeds. It takes a while too, but the car will get up to 157- 161 mph on a straight downhill! When I do it though there is nothing to hit where I am.

I would go ahead and replace the MAF sensor with a new one. Even if it ends up not being the problem, it is cheap insurance given the age of the car and how critical that sensor is. If you replace it, get another WOT log and we can see if there was a improvement in the reported airflow.
