Where are you getting the info that OE Subaru filters are Purolator? I'm not finding that anywhere and if you look at the side-by-side picture of the Purolator vs the OE Subaru filter you can even see a difference...

There is a clear difference in the construction of the filter alone. Please provide us with the documentation that OE fliters are Purolator so we can all be better informed. Otherwise, you're just quoting mis-information.

That is how cars come from the factory. I ripped my oil filter off my 06 Tacoma when it was new, it took us almost an hour to get it off. (oil filter wrench no workey)

Subaru switched to purolators for a while, and they have switched back to ones manufactured BY Fuji FOR Subaru. They are Subaru brand. Yes, there was a period when they used purolators, but not anymore, and it hasn't been that way for several years.

Apparently it wasn't common knowledge because if it was, I wouldn't have questioned your statements. After reading the links to sources I also consider credible, I can't argue with what I read.

Spreading mis-information happens and it happens a lot. It doesn't make them a liar, just wrong. You're getting quite defensive about what I said as if I were accusing you of something. I merely asked your source and simply stated that without a credible source, there was a chance that you wouldn't be believed and would thus be quoting mis-information.

As far as how you chill in the Northeast I'd have to argue that. I've chilled in the Northeast before and we never got all bent out of shape when somebody simply wanted a bit more information than we were immediately providing. I've even chilled in Portland Maine (S. Portland and Falmouth to be more exact) and I don't recall people as uptight and defensive as you. You're quickly turning into an example of when keeping it real goes bad. You really need to learn how to chill out a bit more and just go with the flow. Nobody here or on any forum anywhere in the world knows everything about everything so we all must do our best to keep learning and help eachother out.

If you keep up with the namecalling, personal attacks and the trashy slang you'll find yourself reported for flaming by many and removed from the forum. Even with some of the defensiveness and backtalk you've spewed you've actually still managed to provide useful information in this thread. All you have to do is kill the attitude and keep providing useful information and all will be well. Keep in mind when you read this and get an itch to turn defensive; that it was you who made the first personal attack and not others. If you really have to slam somebody, find a Honda owner with a fartcan to direct your sarchasm at. I know that often works for me.

While I'm on my soapbox, keep in mind that there are three ways your intelligence is judged on internet forums.
1) How you treat others.
2) How useful the information is you provide.
3) Spelling and grammar.

So far, you've only been successful at #2. Learning to use capital letters and spellcheck will help with #3, and you're on your own with #1.

Finally, before you question me about my time chilling in the Northesat it should be noted that you're actually in the "Downeast" and that I grew up in CT and have spent over 20 years of my life in CT, VT, and ME combined so I know quite well what the Northeast is all about. My sister graduated UMO and I spent a year in Bath, and a year at MMA in Castine in addition to the 3 years in the Portland area. While in Portland I also got to know the Rockland area and Portsmouth, NH areas quite well.

Regards,
Phil

I checked my spare oil filters, all of them say Fuji Heavy Indust. On them. None say purolator anywhere. So I'm gonna say they don't do them anymore and I'll be happy. I also use Mobil 1 filters, but I can't get the crush rings with it so I order the 6 pack w crush rings on subarugenuine.
