Default Cobb stage 2 ots map and now overboosting.

I have a gc8 with a 2.0liter and tbe and gutted uppipe, thats it for mods. I know I should be in another forum but I always get more responses from the factory 2.0liter forum. Yesterday I put the cobb ver1 stage 2 off the shelf map on my car and now it seems to be overboosting. It wont do it in 1st or 2nd gear but in 3rd and 4th it almost always hits fuel cut at about 5000rpms. The only sense I can make of it is that now its overboosting for some reason and hitting fuel cut. I never seem to get a cel when this happens though. Any ideas on what I should do or where to look at first.

You should have a low wastegate duty cycle map. This was created for cars that were overboosting on the standard ots map. give that a try. It should be labeled Stage 2 lwg.

Yeh well problem with getting the lwg map is I took this map off my friends ecu and flashed it to mine so I dont actually have an ap. It feels alot stronger powerwise of course until I shift from 2nd to 3rd and hit fuel cut around 5k. Im might look into making some changes to the wastegate duty cyle on the map.

uhhh I would buy an accessport or get an open source tune if I were you. For all you know you could be running a map from a different year or even different model engine.

No not all, I would never take a map off a different engine or year that is not compatible and put it on my car!!!??? The map I have is from a 2liter which is a 03, same as my engine year. I would be way more skeptical about using someone elses open source map they have posted than the cobb ots map im using right now. Before stage 2 it still overboosted to about 14.5-15psi but would never hit fuel cut. Car is totally catless, which im sure doesnt help. I loosened the wastegate actuator arm about a turn or so to see if that's what's causing it but haven't driven the car hard yet to see if its still spiking to high..........

Incorrect. It was my car he took the map from. It scares me that there may actually be people who would take an unknown map of any sort.

Scurabus, that was not an HWG map, just so you know. Just the 93oct stg.2 OTS map. Hope you can get it worked out in the next day or so. I would've thought adjusting the WG arm would've helped. Let me know if you need anything else from me.

It may have Josh, I just cant really get that high in rpms in third at full throttle without the clutch starting to slip now to see if its still spiking. lol. Anyways, Im going to put a better clutch and pp in the car within the next month or so and will be able to see if its still overboosting.
