Default Who has tuned their AVCS system, Who Wants To?

For the past few months I have been reading and trying to understand Subarus AVCS systems a little better. I believe I have finally come up with a good system to tune without a dyno. Using a combination of EGT, Exhaust back pressure pre-turbo, and road dyno software. I have managed to increase power quite a bit in the low and mid range. I have also found turbo lag to have been reduced. I'm wondering if anyone else here in Alaska has been messing with this part of the tune and what sort of results you have been finding. I would be happy to share research, results, and tunes with who ever else is working on these tables. FWIW larger than stock turbo owners have the most to gain with AVCS table adjustment. Stock turbos can also see gains it seems but not as much from what I have found so far.

Same here. I have not yet tuned at 08+ AVCS. The potential for increased top end is there for those with control of the exhaust side.

One thing I have found in Alaska is due to our fuel (90) limits we still have to keep tabs on low/mid range timing when we increase the intake cam adavance. This advance basically increases the compression in the cyl (dynamically). So were adding compression before boost which adds power.

Pm Sent.

FWIW..After the last few days I have finally landed on a nice AVCS map. Very happy with it. Using the full 30 degrees of advance above 1.1 load to about 3200 RPM then a nice taper down to 0 degrees by about 5800 RPM. With the higher flow exhaust and turbo this seems to work well. EGT'S down and a much smoother torque curve. Will post a Dyno later.

Here is the dyno to show before and after AVCS tuning. This was at 19-20psi and 60 degree day.

Benchmark lines (lighter color) is the after.

FYI Stock STI dynos around 230-240 in this program.

I think non-turbo subys with AVCS can also see some nice gains with a non-restrictive exhaust, any one with a NA car want to try?

Well its possible I will be around on Sunday. I am going on an unexpected hunting trip in the back yard tonight and am going to camp till Sunday. If we don't get anything that should be fine. Otherwise I'll be dragging a moose out.
