Did you install anything else or put the car in valet mode or something?

I figured it out. The "backup" fuse blew on me somehow.

How is the bluetooth audio streaming quality with this unit? Really thinking about picking one up.

i've had no problems. i'm guessing it's about as good as the file or service being streamed.

This is exactly my experience. If I stream pandora on "low" bandwidth, it will sound crappy, and in my experience cause distortion and even some crackling on my speakers. If I stream pandora on high bandwidth I have none of those issues. Playing Google Music also offers great results (I have the settings set to stream high quality).

I use the BT audio feature with my phone every day to/from work, and pretty much any other time I'm in the car.

Sorry if this was asked, I read through and didn't see it.

Can the middle console USB plug work for this system or are u required to use the pioneer USB?

Is there a stock microphone in the car that can be used to prevent extra floating devices?

Thanks for the insightful thread, may upgrade to this hu with the money I can save installing myself.

without modification, no, the USB in the console cannot be used. One member said he was able to sue it with some modification, but i'm not sure f he used the OEM plug or managed to remove that and replace it with the female end of a cable running from the H/U.

At this point, stock mic cannot be used. I believe you could run the Pioneer mic into the stock location, but the Pioneer mic is pretty small and blends in nicely if mounted neat the speedo, so it may not be necessary

and you're welcome. now go buy it already!

You can not use the OEM console USB. You will need to run the Pioneer USB to that location and it will require modification. Namely some dremeling to the plate where the OEM USB and AUX inputs mount to make the Pioneer inputs fit. If you chose later to go back to stock, you would need to get a new OEM center console liner. Just depends on what you think about that if you decided to ever trade the car in or sell it. I have mine run to the glove box and moved some of my glove box "stuff" to the center console. Wasn't crazy about it at first but I rarely have to get in there for anything.

As said, you can't use the stock mic. You can use the stock mic location with the pioneer mic if you choose to go through the trouble. Might not be worth the hassle though. I mounted mine to the headliner above the rearview mirror.

Thanks for the replies, one more quick question.

Does the Wiring harness from Crutchfield or Axxcess contol Bluetooth features or does the Axxcess ASWC steering wheel adaptor work these controls?

Can't decide whether to get a new hu or an ap for them new ride, decisions.

do you mean bluetooth steering wheel buttons? if so, the Axxcess and the 4400 will allow you to use "oh hook" and "off hook" buttons, not push to talk.

Yes the bt steering wheel buttons, I am assuming that I would need the nice 20 port adaptor to do this and not the 14 port from Crutchfield. Do you lose push to talk or retain with the ASWC?

yeah, get the harness from SVXdc. saves time.
either way with this unit, you will lose the push to talk function.

Every now and then my iPhone connects as Bluetooth instead of the dock connector. Other than that it's been rock solid.

Sorry to thread jack, but I figured I would post here instead of starting a new thread.
I have this head unit and want to install some Polk db6501 components. Would the 14 watts rms that the head unit produces be enough to make them sound decent? I really don't want to have to install an external amplifier.

Oh man, so close. I have db6501s up front, and db651s in back, with a AVH-p4400BH aaannnddd a polk 4 channel speaker amp.

What I can say is I switched head units while maintaining the same speakers and amp and this new HU does sound better. My guess is the higher preamp output.

Just finished wiring the harness and the SWC and attaching the mounting kit. I cant say that I like the free mounting kit from Crutchfield. But I can replace that later with the JDM one...

Decided to wait to install everything until tomorrow when the ipod cable is supposed to be delivered...

It'll sound decent at low volume levels, that's about it.

Newb question: the stock radio has four harness connections. What do I do with all them on the pioneer unit, leave them disconnected? Looks like one might fit in the yellow port?

Also, there was a grey wire screwed on to the side of the stock head unit. Is this a ground? Does it need to be attached to the new harnesses ground wire? Ive git the bypass, axxess swc, and svx's 20 pin harness as well...

The only wires i plugged in to the new H/U, that originated from my WRX, were the antenna and those that were attached to the new harness.

I believe the plugs that will remain unused are those for the bluetooth mic and the center console AUX and USB
