I have an automatic BRZ and I hit 63 MPH at the top of 2nd gear. It's the ONLY thing that makes the automatic semi-redeemable. Even still, I'd rather have the manual that tops out at 59 (for many obvious reasons). I ran a manual FR-S at our last local event and it noticeably has more punch coming out of low speed turns due to the shorter gearing.

As others have said, a taller tire and a raised rev limiter should really hit the sweet spot for the manual. I'll just keep driving my silly automatic and hope for more courses that have long run-ups to the timing lights instead of starts that favor launching.

Mrt/ bret middleton has a video on youtube that shows adjusting the LC using the cruise control.. Pretty sweet.

That's what I was getting at, was that Ecutek may be able to change the limiter to a hard limiter instead of the soft limiter. So you can just bang off it and not really affect the car that much. Since they have already implemented launch control it doesn't seem like much of a stretch. Just unplug the clutch switch, set the LC to like 8000 RPM, and drive the car.

They are doing some very cool things with map switching, launch control, etc. controlled via the cruise control stalk. which is part of the RaceRom stuff. It's supposed to be out pretty soon.

Not a knock on the course design at all, just an observation.

I got the rest of my exhaust today from JSC Speed.

Perrin over pipe, and Perrin front pipe with hight flow cat. Easy to install(with a lift) nice quality parts. I saved 5.51 lbs total. It sounds awesome now. Before with just the Perrin cat-back non res you couldn't realy hear it in the car just outside. Now you can hear it inside(not to loud) and it sounds even better outside.

That Perrin exhaust sounds a bit buzzy, just a bit too high-frequency on the top end for me. Really, I just miss what my WRX sounded like.

I think it could just be the lack of a resonator as videos with it didn't sound that way I don't think.

It's not really buzzy, I think it's just the recording, although the non-resonated version is definitely a little higher pitched than the resonated at some times.

I also wish I had a way to make it sound like a real Subaru, but I have resigned myself to that not happening since I don't want to replace the header.

I wish I had video of it, but today at NCAC there was a wrb BRZ with custom exhaust. Straight pipe from the cat-back flange to a ~20in. Magnaflow. Then back to a split off to dual tip. One of the best "suby rumbles" that Ive heard. Not a single hint of buzziness at all.

Very cool. Let us know if the rev limiter behavior has changed and what they set it to along with the rest of your impressions of it.

It's not the tune which bricks the ECU is it? AFAIK, they haven't released a fix for that as of yet...

I know I can't financially run STX next year, but it's not stopping me from prepping my car theoretically

WRauto, it doesnt mean you cant run in STX for fun. I did that with my stock WRX when I first started. Tried to be mid pack as top pack was always hard due to those modded cars.

Thanks for the suggestion! I agree, it's always better to run and have fun that just sit home and not run at all. Unfortunately, I have too much of a competitive personality to run a half prepped car. I'll run CS until it's financially feasible to bump prep levels...

or I'll just find another awesomely prepped car to abus... I mean codrive
