Default What 12V source did you use for your WI kit?

I have everything from my SMC kit hooked up and ready to go, but now I need to find a safe 12V source that can power the controller and pump without nuking a fuse.

Any suggestions?

PS I have a relay under the dash that is switched off the radio. It is turning on all my gauges, LC-1 and DCCD Pro, BUT I am scared of putting a fuel pump and controller on a circuit that isn't very relaible. I have issues with the relay not tripping and with it cutting off on the highway.

so after a closer look at the system... I am going to want a relay, big time. 60W at max duty cycle.

Now I ask, who sells the most reliable relay?

Make you own fused/switched 12V supply with a power relay. It energises with ignition.

What kind of relay is it? Almost all automotive relay can withstand a certain amount of vibration without tripping out.

You can tap power from the cigarette lighter. No need for a relay unless you want to add maunual on/off of the system.

Best regards,

Dan

The above temperature unit also looked wrong to me. I think it should read 85C.

I am a believer of using a relay to supply your own equipement. It appeared the relay is faulty.

I would connect them directly to the battery with an inline fuse and relay that is activated by the cig lighter or something. I wouldn't connect them to the cig lighter directly . The wiring on the cig lighter is TINY, like 18 gauge. I think the fuse for it is 30 amps, but I'd rather leave some room for error. Plus, what happens if you wanna use the cig lighter for something else? You'll draw even more current...

If you insist on not connecting them to the battery, the ignition harness is a good source. You'll see 4 thick wires under the gauge cluster that go to the ignition.
