Installing Deatschwerk 565's, will my car run at all before tune?
Hi,
I'm about to intall new Deatschwerk 565cc injectors on my 2005 Saabaru hybrid with VF39. My question is, will I be able to drive my car to the shop where I am getting the tune done after installing them, or will I have to have some parameters altered before I can drive it at all? Thanks, Carlos

you will have a really rich condition if you dont tune it before you drive it. My car just had DW 650s installed and on the initial dyno run, the exhaust pipe looked like a diesel truck.
See if you can get a temporary tune for the bigger injectors emailed to you from the tuner to drive there with. |

I'd rather go through the stress of intalling those parts, than the stress of having to spend one extra dollar. You just have no idea. The money coming in is once again pretty decent, but the amount going out is still Unforseen disasters suck!! Carlos |

I just did an injector and turbo install over the weekend (plus deleted the flappers in the TGV). Was quite time consuming, but worth it in the end (other than a few snafu's). I had already changed the injectors once before so thankfully I didn't have to deal with the GBOD's (never put them back on).
See if you can find someone with a tactrix cable to set the injector latency and scale. At least that way the car is driveable to get to the tuner. |

I would not risk running the car with larger injectors on a stock sized tune. Going from 420cc stock to 565 is a 35***37; increase in size. That will yield uber rich conditions. You'll max out the STFTs and will probably still not be close to the right values. CEL will follow and your car will hate you. This is an optimistic scenario. A bad one is that you experience cylinder wash before the ECU goes to max negative fuel trim and you seize the engine.
The risk is really not worth it. If you need to get to the pro shop, have your tuner send you a temp map with properly scaled injectors. This will all you to get to the shop safely so you can get tuned. You can risk it but if things go wrong, you'll hate yourself for it and it'll be too late at this point. Play it safe especially since it will not cost you extra money to do it. Good luck. |

Thanks guys. I really appreciate everyone's advice.
I won't be attempting the drive with the new injectors without having a temp map. Carlos |
