wow, there's a noticeable absence of old-skoolers/old-timers for this event. Ther e used to be a time you'd have to put a cap on the number of cars allowed for an event like this. (The first Lizard run comes to mind)

@ Gr3en

Well, we have not gotten that far yet with our planning. Ha ha.
Hooters parking lot in Schaumburg at the Woodfield Mall. I s'pose everyone knows where that is.

It would be fairly early - around 0730 - and we peel off no later than 8. We - the organizers - would already have the infrastructure in place - which cars are assigned to which spots (recon, caboose, mid pack radio and navi) and the only thing left to do would be a small "registration" the day of the drive (screen name, forum, car and the order in the convoy determined by the lottery).

As I mentioned - and defended - my micromanagement earlier: we do not want to leave anything to chance espec. when you open up the meet to a more diverse crowd. Furthermore, we firmly believe that if we are to have a great time on this drive, some basic rules have to be in place.

@ qc punk
That would be great. We should coordinate this if you think there will be Iowa cars there. At some point there was some interest from Wisconsin - Madison ain't that far - as well. I would imagine we can aim for a rendez-vous around 1100 (giving us 3 hours of commute) while you folks make the necessary arrangements on your end, to meet us there.

Would it be possible to join the group drive at the first pit stop? I live well west of Schaumburg and could avoid driving east unnecessarily by meeting up an hour into the drive.

Absolutely. We can make a phone call when we leave Schaumburg and as long as establish a meeting point, I do not see why not.

f1anatic,
QC Punk has rallied a few cars for this event in the iowa/western illinois region. Just wanted to let you know that there are a few of us that would like to attend. QC Punk should be on the coordinating bandwagon soon Cant wait to see this run.

Dewey, how did the wheels/tires work out? Did they end up on the girlfriends car?

This is shaping up as quite a huge one.

I know I listed ALL folks interested in attending. But I would like someone to list out for me those users who would depart from Schaumburg IL with the main convoy. I need to contact them and find out what navigation and communication( 2way radios) they got available.

This is the weekend after the LSProRally, but as of right now, I am a GO. I would be leaving from Schaumburg as well. I have a Motorola Talkabout, or whatever they are called walkietalkie, and I can also bring a handheld CB if needed.

We'll have 2 ways, so let us know what channel you're using for sure so that when we get close we can radio.

Need to put out a holla for the 1-8-L!

This should be a good time... The wife and I are looking forward to a nice cruise up in the Galena area. Always have a pretty fall up in that part of the Mississippi river...
