I would buy a house on eBay before I bought a turbo there.
It's garbage. There's one brand that sells a lot on eBay, Kinugawa, that people are seeming to think is the real deal. You're better off wiping your ass with your money and burning it than you are buying a Godspeed turbo. |

Any engine parts that have lots and lots and lots of pressure and stress put on them are not the kind of things that you'd want to cheap out on... unless you enjoy rebuilding your engine a lot.

Apollo Performance has these Godspeed turbos on here and I am sure they stand by there products. I do not own one, but I was looking into getting one. And they do come with a 1 year warranty. I remember DSPORT magazine put one of Godspeeds 20g turbos on one of their test and tune vehicles and it made over 300 to the wheels. I am not saying that these are the best turbos but for the price and a one year warranty, it does not seem like a bad deal.

Does anyone actually have a first hand experience with these or personally know someone that has these (by that I mean seen and driven the said car that its been on for xxx miles)? These threads always turn into "they suck, you will blow up your car and destroy the entire universe" or "They are an amazing deal." It just gets people more confused.

Not to sound like a prick or anything, I really dont know much about turbos as this is my first FI car, but what looks so crappy about them? From the pictures they look like just about every other similar sized turbo...

I was interested in these as well and talked to clark turner about them. He said he tuned a couple 20gs that weren't much different from the other turbos but he couldn't tell me about the reliability of the turbo. I asked him about the gt3076 size turbo they had and that seemed to be a mess. Meaning they said it was a 3076, but had the wrong housings on it and other stuff so we couldn't really tell what it was.

I know we all hope that godspeed somehow got a hold of some high quality parts for next to nothing and is willing to pass that savings onto us, but let's be realistic. If they did, they'd be selling the turbos for $200 less than the competition, not $1000 less. |

Well I was going to wait to chime in here until I get more miles on my Godspeed 20g but it seems like I blew another one hahaha. I bought a 20g right before I got my Clark tune. We put it on a dyno and it made 340whp on a dyno jet dyno on e85 ej25 and 850 injectors. I could have got more power but ran out of injector. It is a monster of a turbo and has great power! but after a few days of driving I had shaft play hell and needed to get the turbo warrantied. New turbo in and have about 8k miles on it and a few track day and I noticed I was burning lots of oil out the exhaust. I pulled the turbo and noticed the seals took a dump. I sent it to my local turbo rebuild shop to take a look at it and they mentioned that it wasn't really a seal issue that was causing the oil to blow out. It was the bearings clearances causing the headaches. So instead of getting it warrantied again and waiting for the turbo to take another dump I spent 120 on New Mitsubishi bearing and rebuild kit. Comparing the bearings from Godspeed "China" bearings to the Mitsubishi bearings I was very disappointed and the quality of the materials used in the 20g. Turbocity where I took it told me that the bearings were just junk and it was prone to wear out faster then other quality bearings/bushings on the market. Now new with the freshly built Godspeed 20g with Mitsubishi internals I can say ill run this turbo still because it performs well to my driving needs. So take from this post what you will but this has been my honest experience.

Hey,
Dont know if this is a dead horse thread or not, and sorry if so. I bought one of the Big 16gs about 4 years ago, and I gotta say I've been pretty thrilled with it, especially for the money. I got it tuned by Clark and didnt get the car dyno'd but, man, a real rocketship. I moved to SoCal about 3 years ago and DID blow the seals one day, on the freeway, but just ordered a rebuild kit on EBay and rebuilt it myself. Thing has run like a top since. Getting ready to do a 2.1L and got a real 20g from a friend. He has babied the car and only 40K miles, but this real 20g has TONS of shaft play. At the end of the day, if you can save some money, why not? Of course, I mighta just got lucky but I have to have at LEAST 50k miles on this thing and may have to continue using it if I cant sort out my 20g. Anyway, just food for thought. |

Has anyone tried buying one of these cheaper turbo's and having them rebuilt with quality mitsubishi bearings and seals before installation? You can buy TD05 20g turbo's off ebay for like 250 shipped, drop say $200 in quality bearings and seals and have a nice brand new turbo for a low price.

I havent used Godspeed's turbo's but I have used there TMIC and full exhaust for my 05 wrx hybrid. There TMIC is the same as the turbo xs or turbo xs (knock off) in my book. Fitment is'nt the best but my car made 375whp and the TMIC doesnt leak boost. That is a common issue with some ebay cores. Theyre full exhaust system on the other hand is pretty dope minus a few things. Paid $300 before shipping on the Godspeed full exhaust setup that included up-pipe, open bellmouth down pipe, mid pipe, and axle back exhaust. The exhaust is full 3in stainless mandrel bent. However DO NOT use there up-pipe. It will cause the turbo to hit the head. I ended up using a STI catless up-pipe. Other than that everything else fit like a glove. But they do give you some cheap gaskets and hardware. Hopefully this will help on some furthur reviews of Godspeed products.
