Another Nexus 7 in dash
After seeing black thunder and zedix's threads on installing the Nexus 7 in-dash, I really wanted to do it myself in my 2002 WRX. I ended up installing an Alpine digital media receiver in/behind the glove box to act as the amplifier for now. It is blutooth capable and streams music from the Nexus, but also has terrestrial radio and USB connectivity.
Charging port. Charger mounted on back of "radio delete" plate, wired in to the factory lighter plug wiring, which powers up with the car. Modified dash so I didn't have to get a right angle usb cable Google Play music for now, need the anti glare screen protector Doesn't show the finished install, but the receiver fits perfectly. Wireless internet comes from my phone, tethered to the tablet, so I can stream stuff. I'm still working on a Tasker profile, it has been rooted but I haven't installed Cyanogenmod yet. The stock settings are ok temporarily, it stays on while charging, and turns on with the car. I still have a couple of things to work out, but the GPS works, navigation directions come through the car speakers, and music sounds great. The screen does kind of dim, but the tablet stays on, I have to work the settings to get where I want it. One thing, the bluetooth doesn't automatically connect, I have to manually connect, which can be minorly annoying. Suggestions?
