what 1/4 mile time and and at what speed???

and a 'hybrid' 2.5 needs more turbo than a 19t to make that kind of power on any non-kiddie ego inflating dyno unless the curve looks like the matterhorn

Well, any 283 HP / 338 TQ curve is going to have a Matterhorn looking TQ curve. Not really a bad thing... if you're in a rally car using a restrictor.

I have a 19T on my 2002 2.0L, and I have ~275 WHP on 91 @ 5000+ ft, ~15 PSI boost - I think torque was right around there, but I honestly can't remember. Unfortunately for the OPs needs, I did more upgrades with the foresight that I'll be running E85 this spring/summer/fall.
Mods: STi TMIC, RC 750 injectors, Walbro 255, Vibrant UP/headers, TXS TBE, Perrin Intake, Hallman ProRx MBC, custom tune.
I got the 19T because my tuner said it would be the fastest spooling turbo that provided significant gains over stock. I had a Blouch 16g, and it worked fine for the few miles I ran it, but I didn't need all the top end that it provided, and I DID want low-end spooling for my driving style. I'm thinking that it's a combination of the tune and the supporting mods that make my conservatively-tuned 19T more powerful than most at this elevation.

These were two different runs on two different days. Air temp played a huge role in the difference.

Haven't ran 1/4 mile yet i don't expect it to be good. I know i got it for a really good price. It really surprised me how much i made, wanted a evo III 16g but ran out of funds and had to finish the car time to save up!

Go on youtube and check out "hatchkrapper" and "the subie that could". Two good examples of the evo 16g at work with an external wastegate. It's definitely a great turbo for a 2.0.

I know this isn't the vf48 thread, but I just picked one up with 10k miles for $650. According to guys on Nasioc, they're "magic". However (this applies more to this thread) Let's not forget the original question on this thread, which I assume implied conservation of stock injectors and fuel pump...

I called but I got the 19t deadbolted turbo for 200. Saved a few hundred, doesn't seem like much but it did at the time.

I looked into the Blouch 19T upgrade...for about 5 minutes. I am at stage 2 running 20psi on my tdo4 with tbe, large tmic, mbc, Walbro 342, and a Testes tune...I had to do the FPR mod to get my injector duty cycle to drop below 98% but it is still around 92% or so with static fuel pressure at 52psi using stock injectors...I am pushing ~255-259 awhp in cold weather with the 93 octane map and about 10-12 hp less running the 91 octane map. At my level, even the 19T would have mandated an injector upgrade...so I just opted for the Blouch 20G. (Yeah I know, there is a lot of space between the mild mannered 19T and the 20G but I plan for a fairly mild tune leaving enough capability for what ever I may decide to do later...if anything since I will be pushing tranny capability limits even with a mild 20G tune)

Problem with the 19T is that for the hassle of swapping out the turbo, you are going to run headlong into maxing out your stock injectors/fuel pump before you max the turbo, assuming it actually does very much more than the oem tdo4....It appears like you are looking for the biggest gain per buck without having to invest in a bunch of aftermarket mods...MBC, TMIC/FMIC, Injectors, etc...

In my opinion, the 19T would be your ONLY option without adding as a minimum a Walbro 342 pump and bigger injectors, however you probably would run out of fuel (pump/injector) before you ran out of turbo if you wanted to push the limits of the 19t.

Any other turbo upgrade, including a VF series from an STi would mandate injector upgrades as a bare minimum...

O yeah...without knowing what you are running now, anything you do beyond TBE is giong to require a tune.

I think unless affording the 19T is strictly a budget thing since cannot afford other mods, I would probably look into the 16G idea and do injectors and pump and be tickled with the unquestionable seat-o-pants dyno improvement.

BTW, 280 whp "stock" wrx sounds pretty good but you need to consider the fellow who posted with 280whp is running quite a few additional mods and probably the biggest factor relating to HP is that he is also running a 2.5 block...not the 2.0. That factor alone will gain quite a few HP over a given mod on a 2.0.

just my .04...LOL
