Falken 452 vs. GY F1 GS-D3 or RE050A Pole Position
I have GY F1 GS-D3 on my car. Researching what to get next. I pretty much narrowed down the choice to Bridgestones RE050A Pole Position, but came across favorable reviews of Falkens 452.
Does anyone have experience with Falkens and either Goodyears or Bridgestones and could compare them? F1 overall is a good tire - very quiet, fairly sticky, good in wet, but soft sidewalls is the weak point. I would like to get something that would perform as well but give sharper steering response.

I have experienced all these tires.
And here is my suggestion, Get RE050 if money is not a concern. Get FK452 if you dont want to spend $70 more per tire (My current dd tires, and the performance is just about close to RE050). As for GY F1 GS-D3.... Buy it if 80% of time you drive in the rain. (Dry performance is the worst of these three by FAR) I still have a set of GY GS-D3 in my garage (on stock wheel 215/45/17). They are down-graded as my "winter tires". I also bought a set of FK452 for my mazda3 (205/50/17). And it feels much grippier with 205 width on mazda than 215 GY F1 on my wrx. Sammy |

Don't want to hijack the thread, but since they just won a recent Max Performance Summer competition at Tire Rack, could we add the Sumitomo HTR Z III to the mix? I'm contemplating one of the 4.

Better feedback at the limit, great wear, confident in the wet, super-sharp steering response -- overall, the Falkens make my wagon feel much more "alive" than the GY's did. |
