lol i never get any of this.

Only had a owner of a white '12 STI approach me and talk about cars when I was getting my car washed.

When I had a 350z I would get the kids revving next to me.

Me: Yeah, it has some other work done too.

Me: About 19lbs. (at this point I thought he knew what he was talking about)
Tenant: Oh that's cool, I smoked one of those in my car once.
Me: Oh, cool. What do you drive?
Tenant: A foxbody Mustang.
Me: Nice, those can be really quick.
Tenant: Yeah, the one I raced had 3 turbos and was running no boost.
Me: Um cool, thanks for the gas, later.

I was so dumbfounded I had trouble finding words.
Triple-turbo= no boost. Duh!

The first trip to the gas station I made after buying my 350z I had a guy approach me. I figure he was going to ask me something about my car...not!!
Got his up for gas money. Got the typical "I'm not from this area and I need to get back home. Can you spare just $5?" Really?? $5 is going to get you the 75 miles back home?? Suure!!

The only time i get approached at the gas pump is by a dude or dudess needing a few dollars to buy gas to get to work. They always are dirty, smell and have no visable car. I like to show them a handfull of quarters and then sling them around the parking lot.

I'm going to have to try this next time! I often show up at a restaurant, order, then beg the other patrons for money so I can feed my invisible children.

The only time people approached me was when Iived in Michigan and all the lifted truck kids would come by and make fun of my "little 4 banger"

These are sometimes good experiences and shows that subaru owners are a close knit community, buuuuuuuuuuuut out of the 6 people that run over to talk to me 2-3 of them are idiots. Severe idiots, like the kind that you want to punch in their face .02 seconds after the lame introduction.

For example:

Me- (pumping gas)
Idiot- hey man sweet WRX, what year is it?
Me- thanks man, its a 2011.
Idiot- cool my buddy has an 2012.
Me- OK.
Idiot-you done anything to it man?
Me- just a basic stage 2.
Idiot- well my buddies 2012 is an STi and its stage 3.
Me- OK.
Idiot- whats your 0-60 man?
Me- I dont know factory is 4.5 +/- and this is stage 2, plus I dont track my car so prob 4.2 +/-
Idiot- yeah well my buddies STi runs 2.0sec 0-60. Its so insane. It goes over 200 MPH!!
Me- yeah thats unbelievable.
Me- (done pumping gas)
Idiot- yeah well sweet ride bro (goes back to passenger seat in friends truck at next pump over.)
Me- bye. bye.

I cant be alone out there, what are you guys experiences?
I think you just need to be more polite, not everyone is gonna know everything about Subaru's. So what he may have been wrong about his buddies STI, but never the less he felt he had to give you a compliment on your suby. So ya just my .02 haha

In my experience, in So Cal, if it isn't a "something-63" or "M-something" it isn't worth a second look to most people. People with their noses straight up in the air couldn't care less about a Subaru, especially one with a stupid giant wing in the back. Ewww! Gross!

I was complimented by a young guy driving an older EVO, which caught me off guard. He wasn't a dick and simply said, "Nice car man, how you like it?"

There's hope for the world still.

Where I live, there are MANY more EVO's than Rexy's, there is a mutual respect vibe going for te most part though. I'm talking Ozark mtns in Arkansas btw.

I love to do this at the beach with pennies when the people with metal detectors come out.

It's quite interesting when it comes to these types of cars. My friend, who had an EVO 8 at the time, was asked by his date if his car attracted a lot of attention from the ladies. His response was, "If by ladies you mean teenage boys at gas stations, then yes."

When I had my 08 wrx hatch. I had an older gentleman had to be 60's start talking to me about my car in the parking lot. Asked me about my exhaust and if I'd start it so he could here it. He was actually a pretty cool dude. He liked the car and liked the sound. I was totally blown away!!! He was a smart man ...

ding ding ding!

i was filling up and chick came up to me and asked me for $18(that is all she needed for the hotel for the nite.()
"sorry girl, i dont carry cash."
she promptly walked to the next pump to ask another station patron.

now my car is green/gold wheels, loud as hell, with 4inch high hood scoop(kinda sticks out if you know what i mean.)

next week was at same station
same chick comes up to me again(only needed $5 this time)
i switched it up a bit:

"you asked me the same thing 2 days ago lady, seriously?"

the chick(spun meth-head) actually was embarrassed and walked off!
