oh boy, you're in for a treat. It's a giant party and a few races break out in the middle.

If you value sleep at all, stay out of green park (i think that's what its called).

I'm assuming F-Troop will be there again??

Any idea when is best to arrive? I may be able to arrive early but it is still not 100%. I am about 2.5 hours away from Sebring.

I'll be sure to say hi if I bump into you. I went to exhibition in that hotel you told me about in Indy, but never actually caught you during last USGP.

Looks like Acura really has to step up their game if they're going to catch the audis. 1.5s gap per lap over 12hrs is really going to hurt them. Did they ever release any specs on fuel mileage compared to the audis?

Hey wvallwheeldrive, do you have a driver's line up? I wondering how many 1-offs there will be.

I here is a link to entry list as they become available with driver line-ups.

http://www.planetlemans.com/2009-calendar/ just click on the little green box next to each event for entry list with drivers. If the box is red there is no list available yet.

They do ALMS, LMS, FIA GT3, Le Mans, Classic Endurance series among others.

Thanks, not a bad site there.

I noticed a couple of guys that stood out. Allan McNish (thought he was Euro only), Scott Dixon, Christian Klien and Seb Bourdais. I was surprised to not see Graham Rahal in the M3 or Jacques Villienuve or Vit Liuzzi in a Puegot.

Well SeBas puts the 908 in the barrier and other Tuesday testing news.

Quote:
Sebring 12 Hours - Tuesday Test Results
By Marcel ten Caat ***8901; March 17, 2009
Peugeot 908 #07 at Sebring

© Planetlemans - Marcel ten Caat

Three hours of American Le Mans Series action were part of Tuesday's pre-race test days schedule. The GT1 and GT2 cars were again the first ones out, with the LMP1 and LMP2 cars ending the day.

As soon as the clock showed 1.00 pm and the track went green the GT teams went out to work on the set-up of their cars. At the front the two Corvette C6.Rs were within a second of each other again with the O'Connel-Magnussen-Garcia car taking the class honours during their 1.5 hours long test.

In GT2 it was once more Advanced Engineering Pecom Racing Team that was quickest. The Ferrari F430 GT2 was constantly at the front of the GT2 grid and when the checkered flag came out it had again beaten all its rivals. The Farnbacher Loles Racing Porsche 997 GT3 RSR managed to take second, with the Risi Competizione Ferrari F430 GT2 third fastest for the third time this week.

Just after 1.30 pm the LMP1 and LMP2 cars were allowed to join their GT colleagues, but they had not even completed a single lap yet when the red flag came out. On his outlap Sébastien Bourdais had spun the #08 Team Peugeot Total Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. In Turn 6 the French driver lost control of his car and spun the car into the barrier, damaging the right rear bodywork. The car was taken back to the paddock area on a flatbed transporter. Bourdais briefly visited the medical center but, other than a bruised ego, he had nothing.

The session was restarted some minutes later and all the way until 2.30 pm all classes were allowed on the track, with the final thirty minutes between 2.30 and 3.00 pm LMP only.

After setting fastest times yesterday Audi had to settle for second and third today, positions that hardly seemed to bother anyone at the Audi squads. The #07 Peugeot 908 set the fastest lap, stopping the clocks in 1:44.555. The #2 Audi R15 was only a quarter of a second behind, while the #1 was just over a second slower in this session than the Peugeot.
Autocon Motorsports and Intersport Racing made their first laps around the track during the session, their Lola's still somewhat off the pace of the cars that ran before.

The Dyson Racing Lola #16 was the only LMP2 car out testing, with the second Lola Mazda and the Fernandez Racing Acura staying in the paddock.

I talked to someone at sebring raceway on the phone and he said that tent camping is pretty much everyone for themselvs... and that if you can find a spot you are good to go. It sounded like tent camping is just about unlimited in terms of capacity so I'm not worried about that. RV parking/camping is by reservation only, though. I plan on spending the $50 to park on the infield so i have my car next to my tent (think thats how it works?) I wont be able to get in until fri @ 8pm since i bought the super saturday ticket, so ill be setting up shortly after 8 if all goes well.

I dont know about arrival time if you are getting there sat morning... id say the earlier the better. race starts @ 10 and id plan to get there by 8 at the latest to account for traffic and hassels of getting in.

If you see my garnet red 07 2.5i, i have a TurnInConcepts decal just above the trunk line on my rear window, say Hi.

Will do. I didn't bring my tent this time, but I am not too sad, last time in Indy during F1 race it got too cold in tent and I went to sleep in the car so I might just sleep in my car.

^ I've been looking at that site for years, the guy who runs it is one of the authors of the book "Inside IMSA's Legendary GTP Race Cars: The Prototype Experience" which is a good read.

Wednesday morning news and times

Sebring 12 Hours - Wednesday Morning Results
By Marcel ten Caat ***8901; March 18, 2009

Peugeot 908 #08 at Sebring Turn 11At 10.45 the first official combined practice session of the American Le Mans Series took place on the Sebring International Raceway. After several hours of rain last night the sun returned to Florida on Wednesday morning and with fans building up their camp sites the race weekend really got underway.

Just before the session was set to start there was some worrying news from the Peugeot camp. With the #08 having an off yesterday the team had already lost valuable track time, but late last night the French team apparently discovered a crack in the tub. As a result the #07 did not take part in the session.

A total of twenty-two cars eventually lapped the track and set a time, a notable absence being the VICI Racing team. Only one car was under the team's awning, but there was not a single team member around. Nevertheless the team is expected to run its two cars tomorrow.

Despite the set back it was Peugeot setting the fastest lap of the session. The #08 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP was six tenths of a second quicker than the two Audi R15 TDIs. Both Acura ARX-02a cars got closer again, this time within a second and a half of the leading Peugeot.

In LMP2 the Dyson Racing Team #16 Lola Mazda finally got company out on the track. The Lowe's Fernandez Racing Acura ARX-01B made its first runs and ended the session about a second behind the Lola. Dyson's second car was still being completed in the paddock and will be running later on.

The Advanced Engineering Pecom Racing Team managed to set yet another fastest lap time in a practice session, the Ferrari F430 GT2 three quarters of a second quicker than the Farnbacher Loles Racing Porsche 997 GT3 RSR. The BMW E92 M3s had a good session finishing third and fourth. The Flying Lizards #45 Porsche did not set a time.

Wednesday Morning Practice Session Result:
