Default so i found this catback...

http://www.kpmotoring.com/subaru-imp...catback-e.html

$275 and comes with a silencer. not sure of the quality, but cant beat that price.

it says its for a wrx but it says its 2.25 piping so it would be good for an NA no? my only concern is that its for an 02-05 wrx, so to fit an 06 2.5i how much would i have to modify it if at all? thanks.

You'd have to have the flange that connects the mid-pipe and cat rotated a little bit. Other than that it should line up. But, I've only seen the 02-05, I've never looked under an 06-07. Either way, it'd be easy for an exhaust shop to do if they had to mess with the hangers or something.

If it needs to be modded, take it to a muffler shop, such as Cole, or Monro. Cole charged me I think $50, and it took about 45 minutes.

I hate to say this now cuz its probably too late but the 06 and 07's have an EL header from the factory and the collector to cat pipe flange is in front of the engine instead of behind like the 05's and previous so you might be ****ed unless you get 05 or earlier headers. As far as I know, the cat to midpipe and midpipe to muffler flanges are the same in the same location and everything on the 02 to 07's so maybe you could modify it on the end that attaches to the header by giving the muffler shop your OEM cat pipe and having them cut and extend your new cat to fit if they use the OEM cat as a template. Good luck... let us know what you end up having to do if you get it to work because you would be solving a pretty big problem for people who want to get HF cats for their 06/07s without changing the headers.

ha silencer im sorry, but i have never heard of such a dumb thing someone thought up for a exhaust. I mean if its so loud that at any time it requires to be silenced you should just get a quieter more stock lookin piece

sorry just my little rant, and it looks like any other cheapy ebay mellon shooter

well the day after i ordered this exhaust i called the website up to confirm that its 2.25" piping since most of the N1 exhausts out there are 3". the guy asked others that work there and they all said its 2.25"

it came in the mail today and i open it up and its huge. looks like its 3". so i call the company again and the guy remeasures it and said it was measured incorrectly the first time and he measured it at 2.75". so he told me i could either ship it back or he could give me a discount on it. so i took the discount and he gave me another 10%($28) off (it was already discounted $75 to begin with). so i got it for $275 shipped and its a pretty nice exhaust.

even though he claims he measured it at 2.75" i think its closer to 3". so i'm either gonna install it and just keep the silencer in for some added back pressure, or sell it for what i paid for it. decisions decisions.

For just a cat back at 3" I honestly don't think you will find that big a of difference vs going with a 2.75. From what I have read and a lot of it is controversial but it seems the header and cat are your main worries, after that it shouldn't be a big deal.

Good luck with the modifications to get it to work.

half the people on this forum claim anything bigger than 2.25" is too big, and then others claiming that catbacks dont make a difference one way or another. its hard choose what to believe. i do know that from going from 2" catback to a 2.5" catback my gas mileage went down a few miles per gallon, so im just worried by going even bigger im gonna lose even more.

I would sell it and start over.. honestly.. 275 is not a good deal for the wrong exhaust.. that thing is way too big... there is a huge difference between a modified WRX with a 3 inch exhaust and a little 2.5i with a 2.75 inch-3 inch exhaust.. a 300HP monster STi only sports 2.5 piping OEM.. I had some major issues with exhaust when I first got my suby.. it took me 3 setups to get it just right. you have a wagon with eq length headers.. here is how I see this playing out.. because I have been there.. this is going to eat all your low end torque.. your car is going to feel soft and lifeless in the low end of the rev range in city driving and freeway cruising conditions.. and take a lot of extra oomph to get it going to pass.. which will sound stupid and make your car seem really slow since you will be flooring it all the time to get going.. you want to throw out the silencer.. so that thing is going to be uber loud and drone like a mofo in your wagon.. and you are going to hate every min of driving your car.. my first setup did this to me.. stick with a nice piece made for your car.. it is worth it.. I now have a great setup.. stromung cat back.. borla replica headers.. car drives great.. sounds great.. good tone.. 10000% better then my first crap set up.. you get what you pay for!!!!

i mean it all depends on you man but it really isnt that much work to do for any decent mufler place id take an hour or so and youd be on your way

me personally id just sell it and cut your losses, go to a shop and have them custom make a catback for you and id prob be cheaper than this one anyway

i may have a buyer for the midpipe. in which case, ill have my STi midpipe lenthened to match up to the axleback from this catback. itll actually be better than using this full catback anyways since my STi midpipe is 2.5" instead of 2.75-3" like this one.

yea.. praise because its a great product that isn't full of problems.. OBX makes a cat back for your car that is an almost identical duplicate to the cobb / stromung cat back and it is like 300 bucks.. not to sound rude.. but if you just want to throw cheap stuff on your car.. you are better off to leave it alone..
