EMS Map site
Ok, since I have no dinero for a webhost, I am going to temporarily run the MAP site, http://www.scoobyems.org, from my home machine. While I only have DHCP, i.e. no static ip, I do keep the ip for awhile. When it does change, I will reroute the domain name to the new ip.
I should have a very basic setup running by the end of tonight or tomorrow, provided I can get my DNS information updated. I will be allowing the uploading of certain file types and sizes only. Could someone post some extensions of the well known map types, Link, Haltech, TEC, etc...? And please feel free to email me with improvements once I do get everything running. I will post future updates in this thread. Charlie |

When I was running an FTP server for WARES I used http://www.dyndns.org/ to set up my dynamic IP. They had some cool software on their site that would automatically update your IP if it changed. It was free and I think that they are still around. Just I thought. I know it was handy when I was running my site from home. -Jared. |

Well, I have about 10megs on my telocity server space plus a static IP at home with a 418/418k connection.
Just no idea how to set anything up. |

I updated the DNS, most people should be able to see the index page I put up last night. Some may not because the timeouts on the DNS.
Taking a bit from wrxhackers.com, which seems to have the jump on me, I am going to try to use PHPNuke. I have already successfully installed it here at work with Apache and MySQL. It seems easy enough to administer with all the capabilities I would need and more, and room to upgrade. I haven't contacted the people who run the wrxhackers site yet, but I believe they are trying to tailor it for the New Age cars and above. I will try to make mine as flexible as possible but still limited only to Subarus, hence the name of the site. Charlie |
