I will never drag this car for fear of losing the gears (I do not have the money to replace them). But, I'd imagine it would run somewhere around a 12.7-8 Hang out at Rallispec enough and you'll learn how many people actually need/get new gears.

Painted my front IC bars only but not plates. As you can see the rocks love to chip away at it.

I couldn't figure out how to make pictures available here so here's a link: http://home.gwu.edu/~fed/scoob/

Looks like a good setup. Nice numbers. If you don’t abuse your transmission, I don’t see it failing prematurely. I haven't heard of someone who broke theirs without driver error/abuse. I used to go to the drag strip every week. Never a problem, 70000 miles strong.

Wrd.

I made 346hp/360trq on my VF30, on the stock tranny. It's still holding up. I've gone to the drag strip maybe 4-5 times since, and made 20+ passes. I go out twice a week to go street race with those domestics. I usually go from a roll, 20mph, 50mph whichever. It's still a damn champ. If you don't abuse it, and as long as you're on the stock clutch or a clutch that allows a good amount of slippage, I think it's enough to save your tranny.

That's nuts! It's not often you see a Suby makin more torque than it is whp on the dyno! Congrats on the setup.

Looks like your FMIC has seen better days though

Default dyno

Hey thanks for all the comments everyone. Someone asked for my dyno plot. Those figures are actually from the Ecutek road dyno, which from my understanding is incredibly accurate. I did not receive a dyno plot from it. I'm not even sure that there is one but I might be misunderstood.

A couple of cool figures I got from the print out are:
Terminal velocity due to power: 178.9mph

In Gear Acceleration:
40-60 2.7s
50-70 2.3s
60-80 2.5s

279.2 bhp @ 5692 RPM
293.2 tq @ 4661 RPM
Power to weight ratio: 180.1 BHP per ton

Dave at Rallispec calculated this with:
total vehicle mass: 1550 kg
Drag Co-efficient: .37
Tire setup at the time: 205/55/16 (stock)
Engine Rev Limit: 7100
Test Gear: 3
Max Speed of Gear 99mph
Air intake temp: 75 F
Atmosph. Pressure: 1.02 bar

Not quite sure where he came up with some of those figures. Someone asked about my FMIC not seeing better days: it's actually only a month old Road salt in NY...

A friend of mine put my numbers into a program called Car Test and got these figures:
Shift Points for maximum accel:
1st 6850 rpm @ 38mph
2nd 6290 @ 62mph
3rd 6310 @ 89
4th 6080 @ 122
Start rpm: 3000 with clutch drop

I raced my brother's 350z, he only has pop-charger intake... I dropped from 3,000 off the line and the rev's went straight down to 1,000 then started. Either my clutch was heated up or it flat out slipped. I take him every time from a roll though, but not by much. We'll see who is in whose rear view mirror at VIR in 20 days

i hope your tranny doesn't blow...but that's enough power to toast it by just hitting the gas while in a gear. I've seen it happen to 2 friends with vf22's. One in 3rd gear and one in 4th. Start saving just in case.

I just made 283 whp and 244 ft/lbs last Saturday on a stg. 4 with VF-22. I also have the same fear of breaking my tranny. But its holding up. I also noticed you're making more torque than I am

EDIT: heres a scan of my graph.

That tq number is really low. Who did your tuning and what kind of ecu? What mods do you have?

VF22
Blitz FMIC w/ HKS SSQV
Blitz boost controller
Blitz catback exhaust
Perrin uppipe
3" downpipe
STi injectors
Walbro fuel pump
AEM short intake
Perrin crank pulley

You guys keep asking what dyno and for a dyno plot...He got those figures from the ECUtek road dyno feature not a real dyno.

Exactly........i was gonna say if you're still on the stock clutch that's why they haven't broken.

That's good tq...i put down 293lbs but with 306hp. Wonder why your tq is high but your hp is lower?
