When I do builds, the first is suspension and geometry. Then horsepower, then cosmetic. I'd say that's a good plan. Go ground up. The car can really use stiffer coilovers and/or sway bars anyway.

P.s. I made out with a chick in the back seat already while on a test drive of your car. Just saying.

Ya its just my 05 sti was stage 2 then I drove a stock wrx for a year and I just miss the sound and torque so much .. but being the 2013 is new I should hold off awhile I guess .

And this making out business explains a lot . :P

Was it a dirty azz wagon still on stock wheels? Might have been me, I was driving all over the place today. Also, there is a 'spotted' sticky at the top of the txic page for sightings like this.

LOL.

I got the bumper back from the body shop today....the foreman scraped the corner on the brick wall carrying it out to me. I just can't seem to get a new car...that's actually in new condition! But fucck it. I just installed it because the part that scrapped isn't really visible once it's mounted on the car.

So moving on...from what I gather...the EJ257 uses hypereutectic pistons...because these pistons have a higher silicon content in the alloy they are more brittle, and as such as more susceptible to cracking the ringlands when introduced to excessive pre-detonation. My understanding is that the factory tune has some knock in it, and that's why the factory setups sometimes fail. When guys build their motors and get tuned, the same thing can occur when the tuner doesn't know what he's doing. Does that sound about right?

Have any of you heard about someone's ring lands cracking with a stage 1 cobb/accessport tune?

You are correct about the hyperuetectic pistons. Also to my knowledge I have not heard of anyone having problems with Cobb's stage 1 tune. They are fairly conservative. To give you an idea, we have a tune thats probably more aggressive on our 2011 STi, and have had no problems other than an occasional over boost in certain weather types.

But as always.. **** happens. Just do some data logging and see what things look like after you flash the map.

Welcome, and yes I've met Cam several times and he has tuned a few cars in the past. I've asked him many questions when I started dabbling in tuning my own car.
