Just get a copy of the actual warranty document from SOA or the dealer -- it has to list the specifics of what's covered. You should also check with SOA about whether or not the extended warranty has transferred to you.

Right now you are still covered under the factory warranty. THe powertrain warranty and possibly the 3/36 warranty, depending on when your car went into service

Good chance he bought the classic coverage being that and the powertain plan are the only 2 that qualify for a used vehicle.

To the OP, there should be some coverage information with your paperwork assuming you did buy the plan at the dealer. Keep in mind, like Kelly said, you could still be under the 3/36k.

afaik the plans are non-tranferable unless the original owner of the plan calls Subaru and transfers the plan to the new owner.

so if the vehicle has a classic plan and its not in your name the dealer will not get paid for claims put against that plan.

edit: re-read, the classic plan does you no good if its not in your name.

You might want to find out if you can still purchase the Classic plan. The original owner may have, but if he did not specify for SOA to transfer it to you, you can not use the SAS Warranty.

When you buy a used vehicle from a dealership, you have the option of buying an extended warranty. If you bought such a warranty, then check your contract to see what is and isn't covered. Items are specifically listed on the contract.

If you have a contract that is in someone elses name, and bought the car at the dealership, that contract is null and void. It does not belong to the dealership to transfer to you. The only one that can transfer the title is the original owner if they sold the car directly to you. You cannot contact them and have them sign a piece of paper, pay a transfer fee and it be yours. That only works if you bought the car directly from the original owner. The original owner also has the option of cancelling the contract and receiving a refund, which he might have done already.

Are you sure the 3/36 is over? (PM me the last 8 of your VIN and I can verify.) If it is not, you can still purchase an extended warranty. If it is, you can only buy one now if all the paperwork from when you bought the vehicle is not completed: i.e. you bought the car in the last few days.
