Post I'm invited to a PT Cruiser party. I'm gonna steal the show.

With Nativo's Greddy Front lip spoiler, painted side skirts, white Volk Rays TE-37, black tinted windows and on an already mean-ass looking Impreza RS - I WILL STEAL THE SHOW! (sorry about the caps, prez, had to imphasize that part).

My co-worker is inviting everyone at the office to check out his car two weeks from this weekend. He's gonna have barbeques and everything. I'm gonna be there....and even one of my other co-worker thinks I will steal his thunder! MWAHAHAHA!

Nativo just sent the GReddy front lip spoiler so I'm still waiting. Once it gets here, I'll have the side skirt painted with the spoiler. Here's the pics :

Wow Chrysler must be making millions on those Neon Cruiser's .
Damn wish I would've thought of that.... Maybe I can get a pinto body(slightly modified ) and put it on a impreza engine and chassis and call it an "I-crusier" . If I sell enough of them I will buy Turbo Impreza's all around for all members of the I-club .
The list starts below.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I LOVE the PT Cruiser. Not so much the looks (which I don't really mind), or the fact that some idiots are paying $30k or more, but for the engineering and packaging inside it (imagine that, the same reasons I love the Sube). You gotta admit, it's darn practical and one of a kind. Hey, if it gets one person out of an SUV and into a sensible car, I'll be happy.

Have a Nice Day?

But it's based on a NEON?!? Maybe if it was bigger and had a stronger engine or something. IMO it's for people over 30.

Weren't they going to release a sports (just sportier looking) version of the PT Cruiser next year? Either way there is no way in hell I would pay that kind of cash for a 4 cylinder wagon. Unless its a WRX wagon or Forester S/TB.

The PT cruiser is awesome, looks good, functional, to bad it will suffer from Chysler's reliability problems! BTW, next year it will be availible with a 230HP 2.0L Turbocharged engine...sound familiar. Called a GT cruiser! Remember the Omni GLH??

Well just be reminded that not everybody likes the look of our imprezas either. eeww....what is that faux pax scoop and vents? Man check out the rice basket handle on that thing. What it's a Subaru? Man only Subaru would do such a thing.
To name a few comments.

I applaud Chrysler on doing something unique. Just like what Ford did with the ZX3. As long as they are intorducing a car and not another SUV, I am pretty much kewl with it.

Snoopy: Just a word of caution tho, some ppl may not like our Scoobys and thinnk that you're trying too hard. Stay humble k.
love those rims!

John2.5RS: Normally I'd agree with you, but all the car mags say that you really can't tell it's based on the Neon. I guess I'll have to drive one myself.

BTW, one point I forgot to mention. What kind of self absorbed yuppie invites people over to his house just so they can look at his new car??? Maybe I have the wrong idea, but it seems an awfully shallow thing to do.

I got to go with Gambit on this one...

I realize that the PT cruiser is a dodge.. but of all the car companies you have to admit that dodge is one of the very few - and the only American car company with enough balls to try something like that! They dare to make different looking cars. Not the cookie cutter plastoboxes that GM and Ford put out! I for one will give them credit for that.

Also excluding this initial price swell (aka miata, prowler, etc) the price will go back down. And for starting at 16000 its really a great car for a small family that cant afford an Accord or a Camary. I mean you really get a lot for your money. I realize that its not a subaru, but its a lot of car for 16k, that should give the average guy, with little money a car that he can be proud of, instead of just another focus, or tercel, or civic.

There was a Speedvision special just on the PT, and I really am not sure its based on a Neon Frame. I think they said it was an all new chassis. But if it is a Neon frame.. dont they do quite well in Autocross when properly equiped, just a thought.

Anyway, I thought I would step up and sent a shot out to my PT peeps... I think its a good inexpensive car.

Please only throw small stones... (big ones hurt... ouch~!)

Yeah really, what kind of a person invites people to his house to see his new car. Sorry Snoopy if he is a cool guy and all, just my observation. Actually, I really do hope you steal the show.... make sure you give it a good wash and wax before you go, but also, don't try to show off so much like yer buddy.
cheers

OK, time for a reality check - as far as John and Jane Q. Public are concerned the Impreza is just another small economy car in the same league as a Neon, Focus, Escort, Cavalier, or Sunfire - no more no less. I really doubt anyone will even notice your car unless you come in in a screaming powerslide and crash into the PT Cruiser. Remember, a car is an appliance like a microwave, a dishwasher or a stove and most people could care less what it is as long as it gets them from point "A" to point "B" with as little fuss as possible. Not how I think, but it's reality.

Gambit,

Almost everyone here at work has seen my car and ALL of them love it. Last year while I was waiting for my Impreza to arrive(too 3 months) I had a picture of a silver Impreza on my screen - the one with "Turkmen" license plate. They all thought it was cool looking. When I finally got it, they went to the garage to take a gander, 20 of them. All of them said that it looked much better in person than on a photo. They haven't seen it with the new TE-37 wheels and I'm hoping Nativo's front lip spoiler gets here in time so I can have it installed and painted with the side skirts.

BTW, I know that not everyone likes the look of the Impreza. Some magazine and news paper reviews thought it was embarrassingly ugly.

When I first saw the PT Cruiser I thought, "Cool." A V8 powered, rear-wheel drive retro looking hotrod with useable interior space. Then I read further, front-wheel drive, underpowered econo-box. Too bad. Given the proper drivetrain the vehicle could have been something amazing. Maybe a future generation model will have the muscle to back up its aggressive stance. A story that may sound familiar to some of us.

I figure I might as well add my donation of mental change to the fire...

I like the PT. The looks anyway. I didn't know that they were selling them for 10k of list price, but when the price does go back down, I can honestly say, that the value is there. Well, as long as the owner sells it before 50K miles (door handles and outer trim falls off, steering wheel flakes off into pieces, inner cabin roof paneling breaks off...)

When the GT cruiser arrives, that'll be a dope little car.. or wagon.. or four door mini-van.. WHATEVER!! Even now, I'd like to see how one manuevers in the autoX.

The thing I don't like about it is the fact that it'll be no good around 50-60K miles, and that EVERYONE seems to have one already. The damned thing came out this year, and I see more PTs than I do Imprezas (Ls, OBSs, or RSs!). I guess that's what happens when you live in the golden ghetto...
