We should get a list of all the different paints people have used going. That would make it much easier to choose which one someone wants to use on their car.

i painted my wheels awhile back and used the spray can duplicolor, but now i have a compressor and paint gun

what actual paint do you think works best for wheels now that i can professional spray them rather than use spray paint, and the best place to find wheel paint????

What do you mean the inside of the wheel? I would paint every visible part of the rim including the inside, not just the wheels face.

Do you mean the inside that's like behind the spokes? That's what I was talking about. I would definitely paint the inside because it will look incomplete and crappy under closer inspection with that area unpainted. I doubt anybody is actually taping it off but maybe some people are not specifically painting it.

the duplicolor cans i used actually have a nice tip...not like back in the Krylon days.
you just gotta remember not to spray on one spot for too long. practice a few passes on a cardboard box if its your first time.

Spray can will provide good results as long as you take your time and use more thin coats then few heavy coats. Still with anything involving paint, prep is the most important part.

I stand the wheel upright and start by painting the inside of the wheel (behind the spokes) then spray the face of the wheel. I do about 3-4 coats on the entire wheel. The reason I start from the inside first is because the overspray will mess up the finish of the face of the wheel and you'll have to respray the face. On the last coat, I lay the wheel down flat. As long as your final coat ends with spraying the face of the wheel, you'll be fine.

Make sure you do light coats instead of heavy coats. You won't get any drips and the paint will stick better and resist chipping. On my first coat, I can still see the primer under the paint.

The only thing I would change next time I paint my wheels is that I would deflate the tires more to get behind the lip of the wheel. If you look really closely you can see a very thin line of silver from where I had the index cards tucked in.

Awesome I have seen some great gloss black rims on here but almost noone has put what they used. I am trying to decide whats paint is best.

So far I have heard:

*Rustoleum Midnight Black Metallic (bit too sparkly for my taste but might match my CF hood)
*Duplicolor Black High Performance Wheel Paint (Sold out in that color in every kragen, autozone and pep boys within a 20 mile radius.)
*Duplicolor Gloss Black Engine Enamel (Is engine enamel just as good as the High Performance Wheel paint???)

I think flat black looks too dull for my car. HELP! Thanks.

Personally, I'm not a fan of black wheels because it looks like every fanboy ricer out there rolling around without hubcaps. Just like the carbon fiber hood craze... can't afford it? That's ok, just spraypaint your hood black to LOOK like carbon fiber!

Goddamn ricers... always gotta ruin the fun.
