Default idle/acceleration problem

hey,

earlier i was having the problem of not being able to start my car after reinstalling the intake manifold. one of the grounds actually had some gunk built up on it, so after that was cleaned the car started. however, now the car is acting up. it idles at about 1500 rpms and only goes up to about 2200 rpms when trying to accelerate. also, the acceleration is very sluggish. it seems that there is tons of fuel running in, but its not being used. any suggestions on what the problem could be?

earlier today i noticed that the studs holding down the intake manifold are a bit damaged and the nuts on the studs could be loosened by hand. do you guys think that the intake manifold might not be mounted correctly causing my idle/acceleration problems?

Intake leak-->no MAF measurement-->engine "thinks" less air than there is

If this is true you are in danger of running lean. I think most people have seen tears in the connection to the turbo.

The color of the exhaust at idle will tell you if you are running lean. If it's black and smell like gasoline, your running rich. If it's colorless or grey, you lean or about right.

I'd try one simple experiment first before you go looking hard for a tear in the intake. Swap your MAF with a buddy's and see if that make any difference. Those things are so sensitve to damage, you could have mucked it up during your cleaning.

ps no offense intended--are you sure you mean the intake manifold--it's the red painted metal across the top of the engine, not something you remove with ease.
