Post Update: Chicago Motor Speedway AutoX

Well, 8Complex took 2nd in class.

Donnie has given up on the Honda and is going FM. (Basically a go-cart).

Marcin ran his car and did well even though it was a very technical and slightly confusing course. Practice baby!

Gasser also ran for the first time today and did well as well running in G-Stock. Great job.

We all learned that this course is very slippery!

By the end of the day, nearly everyone had DNFed at least once and almost all the rear wheel and some of the front wheel drive cars had spun out at least once.

Jim came out and rocked the house again.
Jim, here is the Link you wanted.

Me? I think I came in last out of all the Subaru's .

A big thanks to everyone who came out to support your local Subaru team.

The track was SOOOO nice and slippery, but slightly rough. My only complaint, like everyone else's, was the section that was resealed... it was TOO sticky. I always came around that decreasing radius too hot and expected a little drift to cool me down and just ended up sticking and aiming at the next cone. *shrug* I learned by the end.

All of ya did great.

Leo, sorry I didn't get to take ya for a ride before you guys took off. My last few runs were sensational.

Marcin, you'll get the hang of it. And hopefully you won't have to man a corner alone anymore.

Andrew... well you just need a kick in the arse to get you going.

Jim, you looked good out there for what I could see of you running since I was always just nearly behind ya. You just gotta learn to trust that race rubber and let it stick while you power around corners hard.

Ok, I had a lot of fun but I was expecting to do better than that for some reason. I just had a hard time putting my foot down. I think I'm permanently traumatized.

"screw you guys, I'm going home."

oh, sorry about my friends, they can be like little kids some times...that goes for me too.

Thumbs up

Nice job guys!!!

Now I'm definitely coming out to play next time!!! Hopefully with better rubber.

I think my buddy Andy (white RS who was @ Triton) is gonna come out too!!!

Nick - I'll give you a call next week when I'm back in town to get that BTCC vid back.

Jim's intake (COBB) is bad a$$ looking.

I should have gone along for a ride (could I have done that???)

Myk - Cool deal about the vid. And yeah, you could've come along for a ride if you just signed the waiver and grabbed a rental helmet. At least you'll know for next time, but I can't promise such a dramatic ride since that place was just SOOOOO slick.

Nick - from now on, I'll carry my helmet in the car and a pen taped to it so I can sign the waiver...

Nick, you sure about that? Both the TSSCC and CR announcements that passengers would be allowed specified competitors only. If that has changed, I'll stand corrected, but as far as I know, just signing the waiver will not be sufficient to ride-along.

Other clubs will vary, I think including INR.

hillman - Yeah, I'm pretty sure yesterday when they announced it, they said that as long as the person is wearing a helmet and signed the waiver, they can ride along. Not sure why it'd make a difference if they're competing or not, unless they're overly-concerned about liability in case of accident.

HOLY *****!!! I'm 10th overall in indexed times... and Eric Vandermay is only 3 THOUSANDTHS behind me. Damn I didn't realize he made up that much ground!!

And of course, they AGAIN spelled my last name wrong. How can you mistake a K for an A and totally miss an I?

Marcin & Leo - See... you didn't do the WORST like ya though ya would. Look at those poor suckers that DNF'd ALL the runs.

I don't think anyone was taking pictures, though I'm sure we coulda taken some real dramatic ones if we tried. The S2000 kept spinning at the end (lol) and it was totally a drift track. Can't tell you how many cars I saw drifting corners, etc.

I iwsh i would of came there. I went fishing instead. I installed the HD Sway Bar Bushing Mounts and went to test it. I could see the swaying of the car stiffen up a little, like 20% or so. I can also feel the bumps on the road a little bit more. I will make sure i will come to the next. I hope there is one that i can go to before July 16th before i leave for vacation to Greece. By the way, we caught an 18 inch, 4.5lb bass and a 25-1/2" 8lb catfish. That's fishing update for you guys. hehehe. Talk to you later!
Tony.

Hey, just WHAT was Huffman driving anyway??

Hmm.. I'm in the middle of the pack again, 57 overall, at least I'm not 60th like I usually run.

And yes, this was a hard/complex/confusing, slippery course. I actually DNFed and *cry* I hit a cone...

(rear end came around on a slolom with an 18mm bar too boot!)

Huffman was driving Pete Berta's black VW VR6 GTI. Berta was driving in the yellow S2000. *shrug* Everyone was trading places yesterday. I need to be better competition for Huffman... I think he might be getting sick of winning.

Okay this may sound dumb but which race track was this at?? The one in Cicero or Joliet...I have heard both referred to as the Chicago Motorspeedway and that is why I am wondering. I couldn't go to watch on Sunday but with my luck I would have ended up at the wrong track.
