This is talking about the double diffuser, so is this verification that the double diffuser is not in effect for next year?

Since Michelin has abandoned most every other form of racing, I doubt they'll come back. Maybe it'll be Pirelli, but who knows, maybe we'll see Hancook on the grid.

Doesn't Michelin still supply most teams in the ALMS?

Well damn, dude, Bridgestone just pulled out, I think they might need a bit more time to find a suitor.

Yeah, but they pulled out of F1 just a few years ago, and they pulled out of MotoGP this year after being beaten by Bridgestone, and their refusal to share tires with teams other than Ducati and Honda in WSBK got them booted (with a spec contract going to Pirelli).

Funny, but with the talk of Goodyear, I can remember when Goodyear was THE tire in F1. Then Bridgestone came along and ate their lunch, only to have Michelin come in and compete a few years later. Still, Goodyear is in the red so they probably don't want to pay to sponsor F1.

welcome to last month

Im excited about some of the driver changes. Or maybe thats just me hoping new drivers in new cars will make for better drives and more exciting racing

I could see GoodYear coming through, but I would be it will be Michelin.

If its true about no double diffuser next year, it should be a lot closer. The first few races of the season, before it came into use by everyone, had much closer action between the cars than the later part of the season did.

How is this unknown at this point? Renault and others made it clear that it was a huge amount of work to re-engineer the car for a double diffuser, so it's safe to assume it will take time and $$$ to remove them. I want to see them gone to improve passing but it pretty much tosses out this years development.

That was a pissed off Italian making those claims, not Renault. He was just being a whiny bitch at the time.

They redesign the car every year, so it doesn't cost them extra money to put it in or take it out. I asked earlier in the thread about Ferrari claiming its not around (I believe they said that) and no one responded. Its either in or out, but I can't find anything specific saying one or the other.

KERS is in for next year, just no one is going to run it...except for Williams (maybe)

I thought all the teams just agreed not to use it? Williams being rebel again?

I'm glad to see the double diffuser go. I think it was right for them to keep it this year because F1 is all about engineering tricks to keep you ahead. Now that they are gone (apparently), we should get to see some more close racing.

I also would like KERS if everyone had it. I think it would increase the amount of close racing/passing but unfortunately, it just seems prohibitively costly and error prone. Not to mention, it has the exact opposite effect on passing when one team has it and another doesnt.
