Hands down, 1971 Vega. I bought it new! What a POS. 3 spd on the floor. When you shifted it was like a 5 spd using 1st, 3rd and 5th. Blew the first head gasket at 2500 miles. It was down hill from there. (Next car was a 70 428 scj Mustang. I was now USAF!) RP

Sadly, my 1993 Toyota Celica. It's the only unreliable Toyota I've ever known about before or since I owned it. Head gasket, bad compression, a sparkplug that continually came loose (making it a 3 cyl). My 1985 GL Wagon (FWD!!) and my 1989 Corolla were both MUCH more pleasant to drive, mostly because I could drive them without major problems.

Although, for truly crappy build quality, I'll give it to my 1979 Fiat Spider 2000. The thing broke down once every 3 weeks like clockwork, but it was so much fun to drive that I can't hate on it too much.

Out of all the cars I've owned it would have to be the 89 Buick Century we acquired from my great aunt. It only had a little over 45,000 on it, and had been properly maintained, but it was a p.o.s. Only had a 4 cylinder motor. But it was good in the snow as it was sooo friggin heavy.

I remember the funniest thing that ever happened was on a trip home from VA the wiper relay went bad. The wipers wouldn't shut off. It was horrible because it was probably about 3 1/2 hours of the wipers running on a 85+ degree sunny day. (It had been raining when we initially left, that's why the wipers were turned on.) I don't know why I never thought to try pulling the fuse. It's funny now, but made me hate that car so much.

I did end up selling it to my neighbor, which lead me to getting my 99 Integra, and the modding sickness began.

Nothing worked right on the car: the aftermarket tape deck wouldn't play correctly, it developed some clutch chatter that would loosin your wisdom teeth! The sunroof began to leak in this Oregon weather...the gas gauge stopped working....and worst of all... there was a crack in the intake manifold so the idol would go from 900rpms to 3100 rpms for no reason whats so ever...

Easily the worst $1500 decision... the car lasted me 6 weeks!

I'm still convinced to this day that the Scirroco's were the worst vehicle ever produced!!

I had a 76 Scirocco for a summer.....blew it up 2x....sold it with motor #3 blown

I think you win!

my worst

I had a 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 4 door, grey. it was my family car for 10 years. My dad and brother beat the hell out of it and I got it with a dented front fender and a dented rear door. What a POS!

But it was a rolling couch (two actually) I miss having a bench seat. I used to drift it on dirt roads, jumped it a few times and took 8 people to the beach it in. I killed the tranny one night and the next day my street flooded. Water was up to the top of the dashboard. It was over after that!

The picture is not my actual car, but pretty damn close. Now the car is considered hot by some people. I should have kept it and made a "Box" out of it. Put some 23" on there and paint it yellow.

my first car / crap shoot - 1994 Gen 1 eclipse... learned how to drive a stick in this car...in the snow at that. blew the motor after 34 miles when i missed a shift and went to 1st at (roughly) 12,000rpm. 2nd was my 1992 BMW 316i right when i got to germany. e-brake worked when it felt like it. 3rd was a 1993 geo metro that i got for free. beat the crap out of that. backed into a concrete planter... kept backing because it felt good to thrash that car... when i got rid of it, i stuck around to watch them crush it. then it was my 96 base model mustang. it's a ford 'nuff said. atleast they circled the problem

I had a 93 Probe 4cyl from age 17 to age 21 and beat the hell out of it, my (then) 16 year old sister got it from me and had it until she was 19 and sold it. The guy that bought it from her still has it, I just talked to him a few months ago--the car has over 220K miles on it, original engine and transmission. You musta got a bad one.....

I think your sarcasm meter needs recalibrating. The kid drives a 97 Legacy.
no joke, lol. I saw that right after talking to one of my friends whose parents bought him a Dodge Ram SRT-10 and he was complaining about it. My mind was a bit off track me thinks. ^_^

Black 98 Nissan Maxima with 198,000 miles on it. Never had a problem (cept for 2 minor accidents). Pretty pimp (or so I thought). 18" chrome giovanni's, exhaust, tints, stereo. Mom used to call it the puerto rican-mobile (no bigotry intended).

I got it for free from a coworker with a blown motor. Picked up a motor for $250 and had a crappy DD for a while. That thing was absolutely terrible although it was nice being able to park in bad neighborhoods in Boston and not worry about it getting stolen.

same here:

i hated how it would randomly die on me and that it was so slow. the higher you put the a/c the louder/warmer it would get. believe it or not i was pulled over twice in it, first time was 11 days after i got my license by two bicycle cops. they said the wagon looked out of place in the neighborhood. i ended up with a too many people in the car ticket. the second time i was driving back from work and the cop turns on his lights. turns out one of the tail lights had gone out. luckily he only gave me a warning. the fold down rear seats were nice. it had one speaker, which i blew when i went on a little skate trip and wanted to listen to music from the spot, so i cranked up the music and it was never the same after that.

but i did love it too. i took it on photoshoots, drift meets, and have gotten it sideways. It has now been passed onto my aunt

as crappy as it was i plan on getting another one, except in manual, and do a turbo build on it which seems relatively simple looking at the faq on turbobricks

My first car - 1992 Plymouth Acclaim. It was a hand me down from a hand me down when I got it. The brakes were shot (which I found out when I hit a tree at 5mph while doing a K-turn in my driveway. luckily the tree was unscathed). The car could not go faster than 88mph. The hood latch was broken and the hood bounced off the safety catch. It stalled if you took your foot off the gas pedal for more than a few seconds... (you would have to put the car into neutral or park at stop lights and feather the gas.) And the radio/casette deck did not work.

After that car I learned to drive manual on a late 90's Saturn SL2. It was like driving a Porsche next to the acclaim....

It would probably have to be the 96 stratus. Crap leaked from various places in the engine bay, went through 2 engines. Then on engine #3 powersteering fluid resevior decieded it had enough and just started leaking like crazy and caused a engine bay fire.

Never was i so happy to see a car get destroyed ROFL
