I would have ditched the y-pipe years ago, but when I was autocrossing the class rules said I couldn't replace it. So I simply haven't attacked that problem yet. And I'm still deciding whether I want to pony up the money for a used STi TMIC to get better fitment or save $100 and go with an ebay TMIC that is huge and not any more efficient.

Is this fast enough spool for you all? Starting to get my 16G map fine tuned, and the weather is cooling off a bit. It was ~60 degrees F outside during these logs, with IAT of ~75 I believe. Really humid and cloudy.

20 psi by 3700 RPM in 2nd gear. Crossing 4.0 mafV around 3600 RPM. Still stock maf scale and maf tube/sensor.

Heres another log where I just rolled onto the throttle. A bit higher boost this time. 4.56 mafV at 6300! Not sure what it would've reached had I redlined it. Probably 4.58-4.6.

Its moving a isht ton of air for such a little turbo and my stock 110k mile valvetrain. I'm keeping gas equive AFR's on spool up at 11.0 and then holding 11.5 with a slight leaning out up top to 11.8. I'll need to address that, as likely the stock maf scaling is off up there.

Unless you decided to forgo your warranty on the turbo, I can promise you it's getting it's turbine wheel clipped.

In for the results.

I think you are right:

260hp/247wtq corrected, 269/252 uncorrected. Tune peaked at 19.5psi around 3400rpm and made peak hp at 6000rpm. Overall I'm very happy with the tune!

Those are good numbers you have there. The graph has a nice shape to it as well, although I imagine spool up on the street would be a bit quicker and move that peak torque a bit further to the left.

This is what a stage 2 STI on 93 makes on agile's dyno for reference

So, this is looking very appealing to me. I was just wondering how much it would add on top of my stage 2 setup right now.
I'm figuring $300 for blouch to rebuild (can't check the price right now cause the site is down), $225 each for injectors and pump. So, I'm not sure if I would need to upgrade the intercooler or not. I believe I read yes, but I don't feel like searching through here again.
So, could I look at around $800? Or is there stuff that I am missing?

The upgrade is 325$ without a rebuild included IIRC. But getting a rebuild is probably a good idea. Not sure on the $ of that.

You never really NEED to upgrade your intercooler, but it will limit the power you'll be able to make if you don't. A good bar/plate TMIC and proper ducting/heat shielding will probably make 15+whp/wtq over the stock TMIC. Maybe more.

The fuel pump is 90$ for the kit, so no worries there. Injectors.....depends on what you want. ID1000's are gonna be a lot more than modded stockers.

How much more power do you want? The reason I ask is because add a good CAI, injectors, FP, and an E85 tune, and the added power will blow your mind if your currently OTS map stage 2 tune. It will run you less $, as you won't need the intercooler or the turbo modification, and it will probably make similar power to a 19T on pump fuel.

The turbine clipping also obviously changes the boost response of the turbo. Here you can see windozer observing the 19T in this latest result reaching 19.5 psi by 3400 RPM in what I'm assuming is a 3rd gear pull. On a stock turbo, good stage 2 setup people usually see that manifold pressure reached before 3000 RPM (depending on state of tune and boost control method)

I'm still not convinced that this is any better than a 16G. I would expect the same manifold pressure from a 16G at roughly the same RPM as this on a MT 5 spd in 3rd gear.

Hard to beat the price point though.

Well how much power I want. Not too much. I live in a very snowy part of the Colorado Rocky Mountains and I need winter driving abilities. But, I would like the ability to just have those awesome pulls through the twisties or onto the highway. So, I'm not sure how much power could be too much, but I would like a little more than my OTS stage 2. I'm thinking about as much as a stock STi or a touch over. However, I don't want to wait for high spool times. That's why I was thinking the New HTA68 or EVOIII, but that looks out of my price range. So, that's why I was looking at this. And I would prefer to do it all without E85 because there aren't any good stations around me.
Current applicable mods are 3" turbo-back, lightweight flywheel, Exedy Stage 1 organic clutch. Not sure if that changes anything. Thank you by the way.

xsnapshot - you're right, 3rd gear pull. I also agree with what you said about the 16g, but I was still very impressed on how hard it pulls up to 6000. Since I got the rebuilt turbo and sti injectors for such an amazing price, I decided to go this route. The car is also a DD and this has been my first turbo swap so I decided to start small. I plan to have the car a long, long time and work up to bigger and bigger numbers

Some plots from page one with a PnP and clipped 19t make me think that clipping is a secondary influence to the supporting mods and tuning. Surfer Steve's clipped turbo is showing similar response. Maybe the PnP brings back some response.

I decided to go this route after my turbo seal failed. Sent the TD04 to Blouch last Oct and got it back about a month later. Had all the parts installed and tuned in Denver @ Mac Auto Sports.

19T TD04 (GimmeSpeed P&P w/ Heat Coating)
Larger Top Mount
DeatschWerk 750cc
+1 Colder Plugs
Walbro 255
Boost Solenoid
GrimmeSpeed Catless Uppipe
Maddad Downpipe (2.5 tapper) and (highflow Magnaflow cat)
Mac Auto Tune

End Product: HP 271.16 Torque 283.01

(Sorry To Lazy To Post Paper Proof)

Car has been running great with no problems, and very happy with the results. 2nd & 3rd gear loves.

That's almost identical to what I turned out at Mac with my similar setup. Funny! Well, I guess not really - more to be expected.
I'm not a fan of the Magnaflow thing that they do since it didn't help a bit in me clearing emissions. I'm going catless, and I'll just swap in stock when I need to clear. Trust me, it's not worth the hassle. Even almost a year later, I'm pretty sure Nick would remember all the hassles I went through in trying to get my car to pass emissions. How did I end up doing it? Stock DP and exhaust with boost turned down. It was the only way.

My stock td04 has bad seals and was leaking/smoking oil but has no shaft play... and so after reading ALOT of this discussion I have a question that I am gonna ask Blouch soon over the phone but wanted to ask it here first if anybody can help me out/add some input.

I don't have enough money right now to upgrade TMIC, or FP, or injectors, but I do need my car back on the road not smoking and burning oil.

Do you think Blouch would port and polish my turbo and add new seals for a decent price?
