Default Question about the 11.9 sec Turbo XS WRX

I know they put their Stage 4 TMI on the WRX, but did they also use nitrous to achieve the 11 sec? If you check the "details" page for the car, they show a nitrous set up, so I am thinking they did use nitrous. Anyone know for sure?

I think it was Phil who ran the car. They did use Nitrous. They went 11.9@115. I think Phil said he mis-shifted or something along those lines. There was def. a bit more out of that car.

What type of dyno does TXS have? Does it read higher or lower than a Dynojet?

Is that dyno graph of 376hp dynoed with the nitrous kit?

Yes, I used a NX 50 shot. I drove the car really well but we ran out of NX at the end of the track so the AFRs became excessively rich. We ran the car again with the same setup and trapped at 117 mph but I didn't drive well and only managed a 12.0.

Power doesn't guarantee a timeslip as I ran a 120 mph trap this past weekend and only managed a 12.6 et. LOL! This was all turbo. That was at low boost and once we had the car running well, we turned up the wick and blew out the center diff.

We have a Dynapack 4000 and it reads really close to a Dyno Jet (+-15whp).

Thanks,
Phil

Phil,

120mph all turbo is insane! What turbo are you running now? The reason why I was asking those questions is because I'm headed to the track tomorrow but I wonder what I was going to trap at with the power that I put down, which is 345.6hp, 359.9ft/lbs of torque.

Guys, Phils motor is putting down SERIOUS power. Go ahead ask him what happened on the dyno when he first got the new turbo on and rolled on the throttle in 2nd gear.....

*hint it rymes with stripped teeth off 2nd gear
I think he was saying like 450+ft/lbs at the wheels before it let go

I think you are confused. Phil made around 399ft/lbs. Someone recently made about 450ft/lbs on our dyno, but it wasn't him

I'll let you guess who it was

450!? Damn, that's a lot of torque!! Let me guess though, at 5000-6000rpm range? And I am thinking the setup that made such torque is a 2.5L with race gas, right?

Phil stripped 2nd gear making 399ft/lbs? Holy crap, I was thinking about spraying the car but hell no, I'm only 40ft/lbs away.

No,
Phil stripped his 2nd gear long before making 399ft/lbs on our dyno, but 399ft/lbs (457whp) does number on the center diff.

On our dyno I think he was making a true 350 ft/lbs (410whp) when he killed 2nd gear from a roll.

At 405ft/lbs (270whp is where the dyno stopped recording at 3500rpms) at the wheels he sent a stock rod though the block.

A VF30 with n2o can produce a whole lot of torque, so be careful about hitting it below 4500 or you may cause yourself lots of trouble. It's better to use it up top where you just don't have that much with a VF30.

By the way, the aforementioned 450ft/lbs car made 497whp

One last note the HP numbers above are the peak numbers for the setups listed, not the Hp they were making at the RPM they produced the torque in question. The exception is the last one where it made peak HP and peak torque just before the rod went though the block.

Here's a list of what's currently on my car:

http://www.turboxs.com/ProjectWRX.htm

My stock transmission blew out second gear from a role on pump gas with our Garrett Turbo Kit (not yet available). Actual HP was unknown but but I was running a little more boost at the time

When we raced the car last weekend it was with my new setup at low boost.

Thanks,
Phil

So.. the $4k for the race engine is for a complete longblock or shortblock? (short I would imagine... if so, how much more for heads?)
