How safe without EM or tuning?
OK here's the deal i live in LA and i have to travel to get the car tuned. I am upgrading my EJ207 to a bigger turbo and injectors. How far can i go with the upgraded turbo without engine managment? I know i'll have to keep the boost down but how much? is a boost contoller needed? the turbo i plan on going with is an FP Green or Similar. I have been told that the JDM ECU is very advanced and maybe it will ajust to the AFR at a safe level.
Who has done this before? All info is greatly apprectiated

I would advise against driving a long distance w/o engine management on a bigger turbo & injectors.

EM is very important, you may get away with running your bigger turbo for a little while, but without a safe tune you'll be replacing your small block in ~50k miles

If he kept it out of boost I would think he'd be ok, no? Cruising on the highway shouldn't be too bad. What tuning are you getting done? If you get a UTEC you can get a base map or use someoneelses just to get you there.

Its not so much miles as boost. You can do it but use these precautions:
a. Drive your car like a Hyundai Excel (and that's NO joke) b. Install the parts at the last possible moment prior to tuning c. Keep your eye on your boost gauge and ensure you run ZERO PSI until tuned d. Drive your car like a Hyundai Excel (and that's NO joke) |

I think the main thing will be just how big are the injectors?

No boost really means no boost. Shift at 2500.

Your computer should be able to compensate up to about 687cc injectors, so you wil be running rich, since the modded inj's are about 800cc. I reccommend changing your oil after driving, and before tuning.
